Tim Gunn: I Think The Kardashians Have An Absence Of Taste

First Posted: 04/25/2010 5:12 am Updated: 05/25/2011 3:35 pm

Tim Gunn recently talked to MSN's WonderWall about the ever-expanding world of celebrity fashion. When told about Jersey Shore's JWoww's upcoming clothing line, Gunn called it "preposterous." And he had some equally harsh words for the Kardashians:

WW: Are you a supporter of the Kardashians' line with Bebe? TG: No! I just think the Kardashians have an absence of taste and I don't think that that should be perpetuated. I'm sorry I'm sounding like an old farty snob but it bothers me.

WW: You sound like somebody who's telling the truth.
TG: I will say in general with celebrity labels, with the understanding that they're not actually designing them, but you hope in a way that they're not overseeing them either. I'm all in favor of anything that employs young designers.

Tim Gunn has class and style, and I am so happy to hear him address the Kardashians' "vulgar,
cheap and taudry" dress and behavior. It doesn't matter how attractive the Kardashian women
are. Once they start moving around and showing the world "the way they navigate the world", they become ugly. Kris Jenner is the worst mother and a terrible example for her daughters and Bruce Jenner needs to man-up. They are truly a pitiful family and an embarrassment. There was a time when shows on TV were really quality. Those days are gone.

Good for Mr. Gunn. We're big fans of him over at the web's only affordable style website, www.dappered.com Kim is ridiculously gorgeous, but for as much flesh as she flashes you'd think she'd allow a camera to photograph her famous behind from time to time.

Does that mean the Kardashians are tacky? Oh dear!

I love Tim Gunn! He tells it like it is.

However, I think people have the wrong idea about the Kardashians. They cannot possibly take themselves seriously since none of them actually DO anything. I think they parade their personal lives in the media for our amusement -- like court jesters making fools of themselves for the King's pleasure. LOL!

I met and worked with both Bruce Jenner and his wife the week after they got married. Their kids were small and although the mother was attractive, (IMO) she was extremely bossy and actually took over the meeting that was focused around Bruce and an upcoming line of sportswear with this name.

During both the meetings and the photo shooting, the mom (now Kris Jenner) was both overbearing and in your face with her husband barely speaking up at all. AT that point I took an instant dislike to her and was not surprised in the least when I saw how she (and Bruce) are "marketing" their family.

The kids grow up within the bounds of what their parents put forth and unfortunately, it would seem that both Bruce and Kris seem to think it's OK to now make their money off of their family and their antics. Unfortunately, this is not a surprise...

Thank God somebody said it. I'm still wondering why they are considered celebrities.

I think Tim was speaking about fashion, not what constitutes "sexy". While I am amused by the Kardashian clan, I certainly would never aspire to dress or behave like them.

I love how women listen to gay men on how they should dress, like they know what straight men likes. If it was up to gay men all women would look skinny flat-chested and anorexic. Real men likes WOMEN. Curves. Ex. A. Kim kardashian. She could wear a burka and still look hot.

Women stop listening to gay men and all those women magazine! Stop!

We can and do think for ourselves...He talked about their lack of taste - not their bodies. He's right, they are classless and tasteless women. I'd even say they are vulgar and cheap. Most women don't dress for men, we dress for ourselves.

Oh and I suppose you think we should listen to panting mouth-breathers that want us decked out like some pole dancers-on-parade?
Forget it!
At least most gay men have some taste which is more than I can say for the Kardashian cave-clan broads.
I'm glad my husband's turned off by tacky, tasteless, cheap and cheesy.

Tim is one in a million. He has such a way with words.

Bebe is in financial trouble, kardashian's line will even sink bebe further.

Tim is flawlessly accurate and I wholely support his perception and professional analysis.

BeBe is a store chain financed by an Iranian Billionaire who graduated from San Francisco University with a Poly Sci degree. At no time has he been given the ThumbsUp by Fashion Industry leaders, critics or Editors.

His line of clothing was primarily draped on models and funded down a runway then he built the store chain immediately and got Eva Longoria and others to tout his store name in advertisements.

His newest association with the Kardashians will prove a failure. His fashion effort as far the industry is concerned is like McDonalds too Chateau Briand.

Using celebrities to sell yourself and your product as "success" and industry leading "art" is not the mark of a fashion foward or a leader in clothing.....or anything else for that matter.

If the product was good, Coco Chanel, Gucci, Armani etc. etc.... it would sell it self.

I recently saw the commercial for the weight loss supplement that Kim and Klohey are peddling, I swear I thought it was the opening for some porn show.
