Gays Protest Church's Refusal To Give Communion To Gay Man

Hundreds of worshipers walked out of a Catholic mass in Holland in protest at the practice of denying communion to open homosexuals, according to reports.

The protest occurred on Sunday at Sint-Jan church in 's-Hertogenbosch, about one month after a priest in the nearby town of Reusel declined to give communion to an openly gay man.

The man had been chosen as a "Carnival prince" in a recent parade.

Several hundred demonstrators arrived at the Church dressed in pink wigs and clothes, and left the church in protest after the Church decided to not give communion to anyone that day.

Holland is generally tolerant of gay rights, and became the first country to legalize gay marriage in 2001. This liberalism has clashed with more traditional Catholic values
