11 More Of The Coolest Bookcases (PHOTOS)

We love bookcases. We love perusing our friends', we love organizing our own, and we love how having books all over the house personalizes it in a way that furniture rarely can. A few months ago, we put together a slideshow of some of the coolest bookcases that we've encountered, but there are so many amazing shelves out there that we couldn't resist putting together a second collection. We know that a lot of these aren't the most practical ways to store books, but when they look so cool (and when we can't afford them anyway), does it matter?

The responses are surprising emotional. In my humble opinion, the bookcase pics range from "hm, that's mostly sculpture, not so much book storage" (about half of them), to "hey, that would workf!" (the staircase/bookcase).

What i didn't feel while looking at them was rage, anger, annoyance, or an assault on my heterosexuality.

Seriously, folks, if a picture of a bookcase pushes your button, you need to think about cutting down on the stimulants or having your blood pressure checked. Seriously.

Should have called this 11 of the gayest and most pretentious bookcases available. Except the staircase bookcase that is tight, although not very ergonomically sound.

Hard to improve on the time tested horizontal vertical form follows function design and yes, this always for the whimsical. While some of the cases look great empty or nearly so, that won't be the case when loaded. Besides, part of the aesthetic of a bookcase is the beauty it lends the books that are shelved. Nicely loaded it shouldn't look cluttered. Notice how only three of the eleven are presented that way.

Contemporary holds a dozen books.

The Story Teller is very nice. My office is a 2 x 2 meter alcove off the foyer and there's never enough room. I see a trip to the junk store in my future.
