Gwyneth Paltrow Is 'Knackered,' Concerned About Your Sleep

"Basically everyone I know is knackered, me included. But I didn't imagine that there could be health problems associated with not getting a good night's rest," Gwyneth Paltrow wrote in this week's GOOP newsletter.

She adds that she was disturbed to learn that sleep deprivation can result in premature aging and weight gain, so she asked her doctor how she could increase her sleep hours.

"Let's get some shuteye, people," she wrote.

Dr. Frank Lipman's advice to Gwyneth includes:

Alarm clocks interrupt the sleep cycle and prevent sleep from completing naturally, pushing sleep problems into succeeding days. Dawn simulation devices are much more effective at establishing a healthy sleep cycle and gently rousing you from sleep.

Close your office door, or find a quiet spot somewhere and get comfortable. Take 5 minute breaks throughout your day to focus on your breath. If that's challenging, then focus on your feet and then your hands. Feel them for a few minutes; become aware of them.

For two weeks, eliminate sugar, corn syrup, sodas, refined grains and processed foods. These are metabolic disruptors which overstress the organs involved in hormone regulation and can seriously affect your sleep cycles.

Gwyneth has also described the detox and fitness aspects of her wellbeing regimen.
