Jay Leno's Hulu Tags: Fans Rip "Unfunny Rapist Hack"

First Posted: 05/04/10 06:12 AM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 04:45 PM ET

Jay Leno is back on the "Tonight Show," which means we can all watch him every night at 11:35. But in this day and age, so many people watch their favorite shows on their computer with sites like Hulu. Sure, you're probably saying, "Oh, but Hulu's so complicated. How do I find my Jay?" Easy. Just type in any tag that may be associate with Jay Leno -like say "turd sandwich," "die in a fire," or "rapist" - and voila! There he is. All the "humorless chin" you can handle.

It's funny how much power HP continually gives anonymous online commentators. First they used Facebook as a source for "Republican" comments regarding Scott Brown. Now they are claiming Hulu comments are more accurate than Nielson ratings that show Leno destroying Letterman.

Anybody that gives a person like Sarah Palin a platform to spew her lies, are nothing than a closet racist, period. I hope Keven will leave soon.

Hey now. McDonald's sells more burgers than anyone. Clearly that's the best cheeseburger in the world. IN THE WORLD.

Sure it might not be made of real meat, but numbers don't lie. BEST IN THE WORLD.

Do you mean that 'popularity and quality are not mutually inclusive' everywhere and at all times or are you singling out Leno for this. In either case, since your statement isn't true for all situations or it's your subjective opinion, it's meaningless.

Nice try.

Most of those tags have been there since night one, before the ratings numbers were out. I don't think they really have anything to do with how Team Coco is or isn't feeling. In fact, most of us have a lot to be excited about. If it makes you feel better to think that we're depressed, by all means go ahead. Jay can have his ratings, but he's tarnished his image with a lot of people permanently.

Proof being that NBC is still in 4th place ratings-wise. Meanwhile, one of the geniuses of the network, Jeff Zucker, is still able to keep a job.

Say what you want about Leno's fans but Conan's fans are now famous for being whiners and complainers and generally big babies. Even Bill Maher said they need to get over it. They would be smart to cut it out but they won't. So, they maybe they're not as smart as they think they are.

We just have better taste in comedy. We appreciate honesty and find backstabbing and lying deplorable. Those are really the only differences between a Conan Fan and a Jay Fan.

Still whiners and complainers which really goes well with comedy. Conan's fans have been blaming everyone but Conan for the failure of his Tonight Show. At least Leno and his fans acknowledged that it didn't work out and didn't blame others for the failure of his show which was a risky endeavor. That's the difference.

How many of us do you actually know? I didn't know speaking out when you think someone isn't treated fairly was whining.

the Coco fan's comments on this site and in the blog have gone way beyond stating that he wasn't treated fairly. Way beyond and into the realm of whining and threatening and so on. "As God is my witness, I will never watch Leno again" - Scarlet O'Hara. "Oh, the humanity"

hmm, just wondering why Conan couldn't pick up Leno's old crowd, having been number one in that time slot for 14 years.

Conan had a built in base just waiting for him after Leno left. Why did they leave when Conan came to that time slot?
09:19 AM on 03/06/2010
Because Leno's old crowd watched his new show right before Conan, and then went to bed. His real fans are older, so why stay up late when he is on earlier? It was a failure of NBC to properly promote the show and a disaster in scheduling. That is why they wanted to move the show, the affiliates were threatening to pull Leno, not Conan.

People who watch Leno have a shelf date that is coming up sooner than those who prefer Conan, Kimmel, Colbert, or even Letterman. NBC is really showing a lack of good management.

However, people stayed up for Stewart and Colbert that are on from 11 to 12 on the West Coast. Plus, people stayed up to watch Conan at 12:30 a year ago. So, why would Conan's fans go to bed earlier when he was on at 11:35? Do people who watch Stewart and Colbert watch a strong 10 o'clock lead in on Comedy Central or do they change channels with that remote control thingy?

Leno's show tanked Conan's show. you can see the upward trend in Conan's viewership plummet during exactly the first few weeks of Leno's run.

Zucker might want to find another line of work.
Thursday NBC was FOURTH in ratings with the KING OF COMEDY back on his throne.....HA!

those affiliateswho insisted on cancelling Big Jaw's 10 pm show, are gonna be some kind of pleased with being 4th or 5th each night.

Jay Leno might have high ratings now but NBC was advertising him a great deal during the Winter Olympics when they had really high ratings, and also high ratings doesn't indicate quality, as demonstrated by Fox "News" every day. Similar to Jay Leno beating David Letterman, Fox "News" always beats all the ACTUAL news channels in ratings but always reports right-wing b.s. instead of the truth. Jay Leno failed at 10 pm, however, and he is way past his prime. He had to add a laugh track to Sarah Palin the other night... the 2 of them have a lot in common. Also, NBC executives are morons... going from #1 to #4 in the ratings over the last few years, and losing $200 million by paying too much for the Olympics... no wonder GE wanted to sell that network to anyone who would buy. NBC has some good shows too, but they can't seem to get anybody to watch them since the executives are dumb as rocks.

So, if Leno's ratings were to drop in the future well below Letterman's, are you going to come here and comment that Letterman's higher ratings are like those of Fox News or tell us that his higher ratings are an indication of quality? Are you going to be a hypocrite or what? Hypocrisy is a hallmark of Fox News. We'll have to wait and see what you do.
09:21 PM on 03/06/2010
I think you are missing General Public's point. Appealing to the lowest common denominator often gets ratings. That is what he is saying about Leno's comedy. His jokes are all about OJ, Tiger's affairs, and Mark McGuire's steroids... barely above knock-knock level. High ratings don't necessarily translate to quality. They can... but not necessarily. I didn't see him say anywhere, "Everything that has high ratings is crap quality." Clever of you to try to twist his words, but what you are asserting is a logical fallacy.
