The Daily Californian:

A student journalist from The Daily Californian is awaiting release from jail Friday after being arrested while filming Thursday's demonstrations.

Cameron Burns, an 18-year-old multimedia producer for the newspaper's Web site, was held overnight at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin, Calif. He was last seen by Daily Californian employees filming a rally in Oakland, where 150 protesters were reportedly arrested for blocking a freeway. He is charged with obstruction of a public place and unlawful assembly, the same charges facing most of those who were arrested, according to jail officials.

The fact is, Marijuana does not belong in ANY of the federal or state schedules. The only other substances one can manufacture at home are alcohol and tobacco, which are both specifically exempted from the act. Even back in 1970, marijuana was the only controlled substances which Congress expressed any doubt about including in the Controlled Substances Act. Additionally, in 1972, the "National Commission on Marihuana and Drug Abuse" recommended that personal use and sharing of marijuana should not be criminalized. EXHIBIT A.

Furthermore, the findings of a DEA ADMINISTRATIVE LAW JUDGE, authorized under the Controlled Substances Act to make findings of fact, found that "Marijuana, in its natural form, is one of the safest therapeutically active substances known to man."

I am so happy these lawbreakers now have arrest records. Instead of using their money for the increased tuition fees, they just blew it on attorney's fees and fines. Not too smart for a college student. The arrogance of getting violent and/or disruptive because someone else won't pay for your college tuition is absurd. These UC students could go to Cal State schools for 1/2 the price or get jobs and work longer hours or join the military and let the government pay. No, these immature narcassists want things their way right now. That's not the way the real world works. You have to work for things children.

So in your "real world" cops get to behave like thugs and BEAT UNARMED PEOPLE (kids and journalists) because they blocked a freeway in protest? Are you sure you're American... Because you seem to be condoning behavior (by the police) that looks very similar to that of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard?

That's for freedom of expression and personal rights?
