Eric Massa: Rahm Emanuel Is The 'Son Of The Devil's Spawn,' Lobbied Me In Shower

Outgoing Rep. Eric Massa (D-NY) had some choice words for White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel during a recent radio interview in which he called the top Obama adviser "the son of the devil's spawn."

"He is an individual who would sell his mother to get a vote. He would strap his children to the front end of a steam locomotive," Massa said of Emanuel's desire to lock up vital votes on health care reform. "You think that somehow they didn't come after me to get rid of me because my vote is the deciding vote in the health care bill? Then, ladies and gentlemen, you live today in a world that is so innocent as to not understand what's going on in Washington, D.C."

According to an account given by Massa, he and Emanuel have had tense confrontations in the past, including one particularly memorable incident in the shower of the Congressional gym.

"Let me tell you a story about Rahm Emanuel," Massa started. "I was a congressman in my first eight weeks, and I was in the congressional gym, and I went down and I worked out and I went into the showers...I'm sitting there showering, naked as a jaybird and here comes Rahm Emanuel not even with a towel wrapped around his tush, poking his finger in my chest, yelling at me because I wasn't going to vote for the president's budget. Do you know how awkward it is to have a political argument with a naked man?

"By the way, what the heck is he doing in the Congressional gym," Massa continued. "He goes there to intimidate members of Congress...He's hated me since day one, and now he wins."

Massa, who is scheduled to resign from the House on Monday, following sexual harassment allegations, contends that he "was set up for this from the very, very beginning," and that Emanuel was a key orchestrator in the plot to get rid of him.

And Massa says THAT is evil.

Welll, I guess Massa has different goals. - Different than helping the people who voted for him.

Massa, a lifelong Republican worked as a Republican liason to theHASC during the run-up to the Iraq invasion. His firsthand experience with Bush's/neocons' pre-invasion prevarications and incompetence transformed him into a vocal critic of the war. Around this time, Massa also played a significant role recruiting, organizing, advising and campaigning for many of the "Fighting Dem's" --Iraq, Afghanistan and other veterans who ran for national office. This was an important, substantive counter to hysterical Republican attacks portraying Democrats & progressives as treasonous, pro-terrorist, veteran-hating appeasers. Progressives should note that during the Howard Dean vs. Rahm Emmanuel schism during the Bush years, Massa favored and advocated for Dean's grassroots, 50 state strategy and opposed the Rahm-Carville-Begala DLC philosophy. And as a military man who wasn't a career politician, he was unafraid of matching Rahm curse-for-curse. Massa similarly spoke out forcefully against the unprecedented (and as yet unequaled) public disgrace of the entire Republican-controlled federal government convening to deny Terri Schiavo a dignified death. He has until now been an exceptionally principled voice on some of the most important issues. His departure from Congress, especially under an ethical cloud, is truly unfortunate.

It's quite possible. Of course either man can say anything because neither has to prove his statement.
Then again, what should you say to a Democrat who votes the Republican party line?
"Don't worry, we respect your careful analysis of the needs of the American people who voted you into office." ?
Which is more reprehensible, trying to bully a politician or voting to deny even basic healthcare to tens of millions of Americans -- the very people who pay for the Congressman's own health insurance?

I posted the above before watching the video and must admit I can see Rahm telling someone off like that, even more seeing how intimidating Rahm is to the mildly akward Massa. Not to mention his reverence he has for Rahm. AND, then Massa being mildly effeminate, like the pudgy kid on the school playground getting bullied. To bad Massa had to harass people rather than coming to grips with his sexuali.ty tho . Sad.
