This must be totally political. Some of those dresses on this list have a lot of the same problems and detailing as the dresses on the worst dressed list.

Demi Moore's dress is a disaster, as is Vera Farmiga's and Sarah Jessica Parker's.

I guess drunks are picking the best dresses these days.

Are we sure we're talking about Best Dressed here? Frankly, I found more that I liked in the allegedly "Worst" category than in the "Best."

My one complaint is usually in the bottom of the gowns. Either it looks incredibly impractical (like the woman isn't going to be able to walk at all), or too long. Gowns that drag on the ground are just lacking in common sense--while there might be a "red carpet" to keep the bottoms somewhat cleaner going into the building, there are other times when they're just going to be dragged on some of the dirtiest ground around. I would love to see more colors on the dresses as well! Black, white, tan and gray are just so boring--even when someone wears a pink or such, it's always that yucky baby pink which I find just nasty. How about some bright yellow? Emerald green? Cobalt blue? Sizzling orange? Deep purple? Scarlet red? Even better, how about a tie-dyed rainbow gown? Yeah, that last was kidding.

me too! sara jessica parker looks awful. maggie g.'s dress is iffy as is diane kruger's. kate winslet looks plain, unusual for her.

however, amanda seygfried worst dressed???? she looked so incredibly beautiful and the dress is gorgeous.

weird!!!

I now have found 9 articles about who was dressed well and why not.

It WAS the oscar's, right?

Could we at least get ONE article about who won and why?

If not maybe we should just rename the oscar to "fashion yearly" and be done with it.

It is like the olympics. - All the rage about who got how many medals. - Not which athlete but which NATION. There too we did not bother to read about the performances and the people who competed but only about some ridiculous numbers at the sidelines.

Are we REALLY that shallow?

I thought she looked great in the dress but I wasn't loving the make-up.

Sandra looked beautiful! I like Charlize's dress. I thought the cups were pretty. She is just so beautiful. I liked Rachel McAdams dress also. I loved the color. Cameron looked beautiful too. Her hair looked great. Jennifer's dress seemed too tight. I wish she would wear another color. She always wears white or gold. I want to see her in a dark color. Demi looked beautiful but a little too thin, and SJP could have looked much better. I'm normally a big fan, but her hair looked a little too messy and the dress wasn't very flattering, but she took a risk, I liked that. I liked Meryl. Her dress looked great on her. She looks amazing for a 60 year old woman. I loved Penelope's dress. It looked beautiful on her.

Six of these picks appeared on other Worst Dressed Lists.

Beauty is definitely in the eyes of the beholder but in my opinion some of these picks were just a hot mess while others belong in the 'tow up from the flo' up category. For me, some of the worst on the best list include:

Vera Farmiga - Carmen Miranda as Miss Kitty the Saloon Girl
Demi Moore - Faded Pale Hankie
Kate Winslet - Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz
Charlize Theron - Who put these pink plates on my chest?
Maggie Gyllenhaal - a beach wrap
Dianne Kruger - Swan costume made out of old curtains

I agree with the current top five voted dresses. Bullock, Diaz, Winslett, Moore and Cruz, and if I could choose a dress I'd pick Winslett's.

Whoever seems to keep thinking that the paler skins look better in things like cream and gold are seriously disturbed

What's up with Sarah's hair?
01:42 PM on 03/09/2010
325 volts of electricity....my guess.

She looks better when she is just Sarah.

Whoever put Charlize on the BEST dressed list knows NOTHING about fashion. She looked like someone was holding up her "girls" from behind with two satin OVEN MITTS. She is usually stellar but this time, she bombed big time.
08:56 AM on 03/09/2010
Oven mitts!! Yes!! I was trying to figure out what those thingies were....she looked weird. The dress (or whatever it was) was wearing her, not the other way around.
10:53 AM on 03/09/2010
They look like Princess Leia's hair buns in Star Wars.
12:33 PM on 03/09/2010
I liked her dress, they were meant to symbolize roses, they weren't like popping out and if they were removed you'd see the dress for what it is: lovely & classic.

That's like saying... Bjork dress is a classic dress if you remove the swan's head.

Several of those gowns are real pieces of art, art you can hang on your walls spotlighted.

J Lo was probably my least favorite (it looked like it was made out of that packaging material). I think Kristen looked OK, but she could have done alot better. I know i'm alone in this, but I really liked Maggie G's look and I thought SJP's dress suited her. And Vera is waaaaay too pretty to wear something so ugly.
08:59 AM on 03/11/2010
i adored the color of vera's dress but the flouncy flounce flounces just seemed to belong on someone else. now that dress was wearing her!
03:56 AM on 03/13/2010
I thought J Lo's dress looked like someone added too much soap to the dishwater. Along with Theron's oven mitts, somebody's been dress making in the kitchen!

Someone needs to put Maggie G in rehab for makeup addiction.
That eye glop makes a classy woman look emo.
