Steve Jobs' Oscar Cameo: PICTURES Of Tux-Wearing Apple CEO On The Red Carpet

Apple CEO Steve Jobs hit the star-studded red carpet at the 82nd Academy Awards yesterday evening.

Oscar night was big for Jobs. He not only traded in his trademark turtleneck for his tux, but his company also debuted its first-ever iPad ad, which was aired twice during the three-and-a-half-hour Academy Award broadcast. (Watch it here).

See photos of Steve Jobs, famous for his California-casual uniform of jeans and New Balance sneakers, in his black-tie ensemble.

Twitter user @WayneSutton was one of the first on the blogosphere to remark of Steve Jobs' attendance at the awards. 'OMG it's Steve Jobs! I'm the only one yelling at him! #oscars #kodakredcarpet,' Sutton tweeted.

Quick Poll

What do you think of Steve Jobs' red carpet look?

iLove it: He looks terrific in a tux.

I like him better in a turtleneck and jeans.

Give the man a razor. The scruff does not enhance his appearance at all.

Live long and prosper, Steve. I could kiss you for what you have done with my stock.

I'm just glad to see him there period. I think he's looking quite a bit better. It looks like his face has filled out some. Good for him. I liked the iPad commercial too.

Incidentally, the story of Pixar is just about as incredible as that of Apple itself. Have a look at the Second Coming of Steve Jobs for the fascinating story of his exploits with Pixar and Next after he left Apple in the mid '80s. Very interesting reading in there about Lasseter and Catmull of PIxar too.

He's starting to remind me of Christian Bale in The Machinist...I hope he's getting better.

Why not? Every billionaire must have a tux in their closet!

If I were a billionaire I'd hope to have a tux that is perfectly fitted for me. He looks like that tux is off the rack. I know that he has lost a lot of weight however, one can fly in the best taylors in the world to make a tux for him.

Dressing formally is usually one of the last things on Jobs' mind.

Yeah, it's so mind-blowingly odd that a Hollywood executive of nearly 20 years' standing would attend the Oscars. Especially when one of his companies has a movie UP for Best Picture and another is broadcasting the event. Nuts.
