Best Google Street View Shots (PICTURES): What's The Most Picturesque Street In The US?

Huffington Post     First Posted: 05/09/10 06:12 AM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 04:45 PM ET

Google recently completed the first-ever 'Street View Best Streets Awards,' recognizing the best foodie street, best fashion street, and most picturesque street in Britain.

The Shambles in York took the top prize for England's most picturesque street. It's quite quaint, and certainly historic. But why should Britain get all the recognition?

HuffPost Tech wants to know what you think is the most picturesque street in the US. Google defined the most picturesque street in Britain as one that 'could be vibrant, full of character, diverse, walker-friendly or architecturally interesting.' Now we want the US version!

Go to Google Maps' Street View, take a screenshot of what you consider to be the most beautiful, charming, or distinctive street in the United States, then send it to us! If you need some inspiration, try checking out these VIPs favorite places around the world, as shared on Street View.

Pick your favorite street on Google Street View, take a screenshot, and send it to us!

From First St on the San Diego Bay to Loma St. with a view of the Hotel Del Coronado, Orange Ave. is definitely one of the most beautiful streets in the country.

Although there was a street or two from outside the USA, it is probably a good thing to remember, that at any time, somebody who has been denied his Meds by his Insurance Company, could come walking down the street with a 50 MM Snipers rifle, taking aim at any stroller he or she may see. God bless the United States, and all her stately streets.

I take it your judges have never seen the streets of Charleston, SC or Savannah, Georgia.

When I lived in Boston on Union Park I used to think it was the prettiest street in the city. It's certainly prettier than most of the streets in the slideshow.

Can't believe they picked Connecticut Ave. over Georgetown. The West Village, with its cobblestone streets is as cute as cute can be.

Any of NYC's Mewses. I cry with envy at all of them - Manetta in particular. The charmingest clusters in the charmingest of urban areas - the W. Village. Like backdrops for Dickens stories.

Yeah that one that begins on Fifth Ave...same block as 1 5th Ave....just above Washington Square.

Galena, IL is a regional secret treasure. I wonder how many non-midwesterners know how awesomely lovely & Delaware-watergappy the NW corner of IL is? It's lush and old and well preserved and very hilly with giant palisades over the nearby Mississippi River. Check it out next time you're in Davenport or Rockford.

I hate to point out the obvious here, but the article specifically states that this is being done by people sending in submissions with a link to google maps.

If you don't see the city or street you want on here, it has NOTHING to do with Google or HuffingtonPost, it has to do with the fact that you can't read and don't seem to understand that the pictures above are there because people sent them in!

I will always be in love with Montgomery Street in the South End of Boston.

Even as a native Philadelphian, I agree completely about Savannah. I was surprised not to see any pictures of this gracious Southern lady here.

Anywhere in historic downtown Savannah. The Oak hammock covered streets with the squares at each intersection are just beautiful.

I agree, and was surprised to not see any pictures from that magnificent city. I live in upstate New York and visited Savannah a few years ago with my mother. It's one of the most beautiful cities I've ever been to, and it's possibly THE most beautiful American city I have been to.

Downtown Durango Colorado after a fresh snowstorm, at night, twinkly lights in all the trees (left up all winter).

Beautiful, went on a horse back wilderness trip out of Durange 35 years ago. Breathtaking.
