I hate to point this out to you Mr President, until I see some John Q Public sitting in that theater with you, I won't believe you any more than I have believed any President since Kennedy and I found out he lied to. When I see you bringing people like me or my neighbors to the White House to confer with you on health care, or the phony wars, or banking regulation instead of the rich, the lobbyists, and the  Read More...

Victor Davis Hanson totally destroys the recent imbecilic comments by Hanks in this piece. Word by word. Line by line. Hanks should never speak in public again about what he knows about the Pacific war. Embarrassing.

Anytime I see a light hearted, non-political story about Obama on HP, I just have to anticipate the inevitably vitriolic comments by tr0lls that follow. It's so predictable.

Yep, I thought the same when seeing the headline. Almost didn't click on it to see...

Really, do these folks think that their saint Ronnie never invited Hollywood folks to the WH?

I have come to realize that the US is split on here as much as in other ways. What is that age old saying if you want to get along don't talk about politics, religion. Yet I like the HP for that reason I love world politics religion not so much.

This guy is charged with cleaning up Bush's mess. You know, the guy who spent half his presidency on vacation.

And, lets not forget you had movie time with Hanks and Spielberg, but not a call to Justice Roberts...
06:01 PM on 03/12/2010
Why should he bother? He has no need to apologize, or explain himself. What the president said about the justices and their decision was completely right. Roberts can just get over himself. He was wrong.

Why invite multi millionaire, famous hollywood people, mr. president, why not invite kids from the lower east side of nyc, the southside of chicago, poor areas in our county where these children and their parents would remember this for the rest of their lives, how about doing this the next time, mr. president?
10:55 AM on 03/12/2010
Yeah, yeah, we know your type. He can do NOTHING right. It's become very tiresome and frankly, laughable. You're really reaching.

They have invited children to come to the White House every day. Please pay attention.

Among other things the wingnuts lack is the ability to pay any attention to facts.

I think it is hilarious how neocons hate Hollywood so much. Yes, there are some weirdo's in Hollywood and some terrible movies as well. However, please don't dismiss all the good, television and movies have done for this Country and the world. People like Spielberg has brought to the screen very imaginative and moving films. I guess imagination and empathy are two things you wing nuts would not understand. Aside from my Christian heritage teaching me about treating other people the way I would want to be treated, I also learned some valuable lessons from great television programming and movies as a child growing up. And another thing, even though many of these celebrities are making millions of dollars each year, many of them don't seem to be complaining about paying higher taxes in order to help their fellow man. (Wesley Snipes & Willie Nelson excluded)
