Tuition Hike Update: Arizona, Utah To See Increases Of More Than 7 Percent

The University of Arizona Board of Regents unanimously approved a ten percent tuition hike yesterday.

Regent Mark Killian told the Arizona Daily Wildcat that he wore his "funeral suit" to the meeting. Tuition and fee increases could amount to 20 percent for some students.

"These are challenging times that require difficult decisions," Arizona President Robert Shelton said.

On Tuesday, the University of Utah passed a motion to increase tuition by 7.5 to 9.5 percent for next year, according to the Daily Utah Chronicle. A 6.8 percent increase in fees was also approved.
