Baseball Nerd:

My father died, in the city of his birth, New York, at 3:50 EST this afternoon.

Though the financial constraints of his youth made college infeasible, he accomplished the near-impossible, becoming an architect licensed in 40 states. Much of his work was commercial, for a series of shoe store chains and department stores. There was a time in the 1970's when nearly all of the Baskin-Robbins outlets in the country had been built to his design, and under his direction

RIP and my deepest sympathy for your loss. Continue to speak truth to power.

Condolences on your loss. It is obvious your dad was your hero. My dad is my hero and I cannot imagine how I will feel when "that day" comes.

Keith, I always knew from your moral compass and compassion for others that you were raised well. Your respect and care for your mother and father in their last years is admirable. But then again, they really taught you that behavior and kudos to them. Many can learn from you before it is too late for them.

My condolences to you Mr Olberman. You did everything right---being there for your parents at the end of their life......when my father died I unfortunately didn't have the awareness you had and I was in total denial about my father's condition--not believing that he was dieing, and in the end I was not at his bedside when he passed away. I have never been able to forgive myself for this, not just because he was my father, but because he was the best father a girl could ever possible dream of having.

Thank you for bringing awareness to us about the importance of living wills and end of life care. You have done more to educate the public than anyone else I can think of. And last but not least, I love your show and eagerly await your return.

Keith we were in prayer the entire time your father was with us, and we felt your pain.
We cried when you cried and we all wished you well.

You my friend are a great son, and you have honored your mother and your father.

Thank you for your example of un-dying devotion to your parents and your dedication to your father during his last days.

Thank you for reading to him and filling his last days with peace that can not be articulated.

Keith I feel that I know you personally because you have fought a brave fight for all of us with your Health Care Clinics, as well as being the first to call the Bush Administration on their Mess.

May God bless you beyond measure and all your days be filled with love and peace.

Thank you for all that you have given all of us, we will always hold you up in prayer.

You are a rare jewell and you have true friends that you will never know, but you will feel our prayers as you do what you do in your own unique way.

May God hug and kiss you and your sister, as well as the rest of the Olberman family as you lay your precious father to rest.

God Bless You Keith.

Peace and Love.

Keith you fathers plight was somehow time perfectly to coincide with healthcare debate. In the end I think he made my a more effective spokesperson for reform. We will miss and thank him.

Keith, I felt as if I knew your Dad and what a lucky man you are to have had a father like him.

So, so sorry for your loss.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your father, Keith. I have been watching and praying for you and your family all this time. He must have been so proud of you! And to know that you were reading his favourite Thurber stories is wonderful. Take all the time you want, knowing we miss you and you are in your thoughts.

Keith, my sincere condolences from one of your listeners. My wife and I are saddened at the news.

Take care of yourself and your sister.

At least he knew what a great son he raised.

I see the site's censors are in full 'delete mode' when it comes to commenting on this thread. The trashing that they allowed of Marie Osmond when her son committed suicide last week was a new low even for here. The glee and joy expressed over that was sickening, by the usual suspects who participate here (overwhelmingly leftist at that). Yet, I ask if Olberman will blame Fox News and some of its hosts for his father's death, which is a relevant question to ask given Olberman's rants and usual unhinged utterings, and they won't be posted, or are deleted shortly after being so! I asked in a direct e-mail if the (ahem) 'standards' change when the monitor's shift does? Of course, no one will reply...

Typical...

You really need a life! Sometimes politics is just not needed. Humanity is more than trying to make a point. I'm glad I don't have someone like you in my life.
