Today, Fandango is launching a mobile ticket program in eight cities which lets moviegoers finally go paperless. Your ticket is delivered to your mobile phone via an SMS or MMS message linked to a 2D barcode, which the ticket-takers can scan.

In Germany you can get these 2D Barcodes as a ticket for trains for years.

Great. Now EVERYBODY is going to be bringing their cell phones to the movies and forgetting to turn them off.

I don't think this changes the number of people who carry a phone--or the number who forget to turn the ringer off.

great idea! i pretty much do everything through my blackberry. going to the movies just get easier.. bye bye long lines.
