Christy Turlington began her travels focusing on maternal care in 2006 when she visited El Salvador, and through the years became more and more involved with the goal of reducing maternal mortality. After seeing the women first-hand and learning about the struggles many encounter while pregnant, Christy decided to do something. That something turned into a documentary called "No Woman, No Cry," which highlights specific stories of childbirth, financed and directed by Christy in not only a monetary aspect, but her own determination to bring awareness to the plight of these women.
