James Wisniewski Hit On Brent Seabrook (VIDEO)

First Posted: 5/18/10 Updated: 5/25/11

Anaheim Ducks defenseman James Wisniewski knocked opponent Brent Seabrook out of last night's Ducks-Blackhawks game after a brutal hit early in the second period. Wisniewski slammed the Blackhawks defenseman into the glass in what may have been payback for another, less severe hit that Seabrook administered moments earlier.

As the AP notes, Seabrook's head struck the glass "with enough force that it left him with a dazed expression a couple of seconds before he crumpled to the ice." The Duck who delivered the hit, however, says he "didn't do anything wrong."

The incident follows several other attention-drawing big hits, and the NHL is now considering banning blindside headshots before the season ends.

UPDATE: Wisniewski has been suspended eight games.
