Simply stated by Thomas Jefferson.

“The clergy converted the simple teachings of Jesus into an engine for enslaving the world and adulterated by artificial constructions into a contrivance to filch wealth and power to themselves… these clergy, in fact, constitute the real AntiChrist.â€

I do not believe the Catholic Church will survive. The unabated and pervasive abuse of innocents only hastens the death knell of the Church.

Malachy's list has the current Pope as the next to the last one. That list is looking a lot more believable.

The silly thing is that celibacy was invented in 11th century as a cost control measure.
The objective was:
Catholic Church would avoid expense of supporting widows and children of deceased clergymen.
Celibacy is one of the most cruel and inhumane among all church "laws".

True. And pork (considered unclean) was deemed verboten by Jews and Muslims to counteract disease. Nowadays one can eat "clean" pork, but the food is still forbidden.

Until people stop subjecting their children and offering their money, the RCC will never try to solve the pathology that is running through that religion.

That would cramp the style of the current crimes, but it would not provide justice for the past victims.

Besides, the church has enough assets for the clergy to last quite awhile on their own turf and the deviants would likely seek prey through other channels.

Basically, I believe law enforcement must get a handle on this.

If only there was an all powerful, all knowing God around to stop this kind of abuse. Did God leave his own house and go on vacation, leaving the priests to party and defile it? Maybe he'll send a hurricane the vaticans way as retribution.

The victims and the parents of victims need to learn the lesson, the catholic church cannot be trusted, if your child is abused, go immediately to the local police, cut the catholic out of the loop.

Why would anyone with a single functioning brain cell join the Catholic church or remain a member? Why would any parent risk exposing their child to sexual abuse at the hands of a priest who is protected by the hierarchy of the organization?

Every single clergy member of the Catholic church (INCLUDING THE POPE) who participated directly or conspired to cover the crimes committed against the thousands of children in every country of the world SHOULD BE PROSECUTED TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW. I don't understand where the prosecutorial outrage is and why warrants for arrest have not been issued.
Just because someone purports to be a member of the clergy does not mean they are above the law. In fact, they should be held to an even stricter standard.
These victims deserve justice not payout to silence them so that the church can continue to breakthe law.

No monitors? Can you believe it? But just go over and express an opinion favorable to the "enemies of Israel" and you'll be lucky to get posted. Go over and just dare to say they should be held accountable for war crimes. But it's open season on the Catholics. Fine, cover the story. We'd love to become more informed. But tell us why you think the Israel issues need monitors and Catholic issues don't. Tell us why you dare not utter the name "Mossad" but it's okay to say what you want over here because ...well, who cares? They're Catholics.

This is unconscionable.

Monitoring has been outsourced to Israel perhaps????

I can only hope that this leads to a significant reduction in the power and credibility of the church. Collectively, the church has been guilty of egregious crimes spanning millennia.

Have never been able to understand why anyone would blindly follow the directives of a Catholic priest who cannot conceive the way of family life yet gives his judgement on 'what should be done'.

The priest's life in a family finished when he entered the seminary and consequently, as the years passed, he became quite out of touch.

Being celibate is not a natural place - why do they enforce it since the Bible never mentions that it must be so ???

It was all about keeping property in the church. If a preist had legitamite sons, he would quite likely bequeth it to his sons. No. No. No. It could not be allowed. All money flows towards the Vatican. Go look at it. It is a wonder of human culture.

"You think the Pope, he gets any of that money? The Pope, he gets none of that money". - Father Guido Sarduchi (being sardonic)
