French First Lady Carla Bruni went to Sunday's second round of voting for the regional elections donning one of the biggest trends of the past few seasons: menswear. She wore a single-button black blazer, trousers and flats with a crisp and collared white shirt.

I think Carla has had some nips and tucks to her face especially around the eyes. She's not looking at all like her old self. She looks more like the NY cat lady.

Agreed. Surgery is almost always obvious. She looks waxen -- her eyes are slanting upwards and her lips heading toward 'trout pout.'

Her cheeks are also looking like "chicken cutlets". When she went to Madrid last year, her cheeks weren't as "full" and she looked natural then. Now, she almost looks scary.

That is certainly NOT menswear. Proof: buttons on women's suits (as I look down and see my own buttons) are always on the left; buttons on men's suits are always on the right. I learned this because a friend of mine showed me a male wearing a women's suit and he had to show me proof, rather than just a potential incorrect statement as in this fashion post.

This is true, but it looks like mens-inspired wear. Also, tell your friend, that although you can use that trick to see if men are wearing women's clothes, you can't do that for the female clothes - some designers now put the buttons on the right for shirts and jackets.

The reason for the button differences, I believe, was that many women who had their clothes made used to have maids [or equivalent] who used to dress them, while the men always dressed themselves. So, a man looking down his chest would take the button from the right-side [because most men are right-handed], while the maids facing the women would also be taking buttons from the right-side [but when the one being dressed looks down her chest the buttons are to her left].

Yawn. Don't wake me again unless Sarko shows up at the polls in women's wear. Crimus, what's newsworthy about that outfit in 2010? It even buttons on the ladies side. The only thing less butch than that suit is a prom gown.
