She is an extraordinarily beautiful woman. It is too bad that the American popular media and the fashion industry cannot comfortably accept larger women, like Tara Lynn, Queen Latifa, Catherine Manheim, Tyne Daley, Kirstie Alley, Whoopi Goldberg, Mo'Nique. Women may be perfectly healthy even though they are not a size 8. Until the 1920's, when women began to bind their breasts to de-emphasize their curves, the ideal shape of women was described as 'Rubenesque' or 'full-figured.'

Remember the immortal lyrics of Frank Zappa:

. . .There will come a time when everybody
Who is lonely will be free...
To sing & dance & love
There will come a time when every evil
That we know will be an evil...
That we can rise above
Who cares if hair is long or short
Or sprayed or partly grayed...
We know that hair ain't where it's at
(there will come a time when you won't
Even be ashamed if you are fat!)

She is stunningly beautiful, but rolls of belly fat are icky. My nine year old son saw only a fat girl when he saw me reading this, and started laughing. But if she's happy, then what we think doesn't matter. There are plenty of men who would go for this. And indeed she is more appealing than some scrawny women. A little overweight is more sexy than being underweight. And it doesn't hurt to be gorgeous.

One more comment - Since there has been a lot of verbiage from men on this blog, so...
A woman has to do only one thing to "please" a man:

don't think a 14 could ever be considered "slim" 7 or 8 yes..but a 14 in every country but this one is considered overweight....curvy is like a 6-10 and anything less than a 2 is like anorexic unless you are 5'2 and under

I can't believe some of the comments on this article. These are photographs of a very attractive model, with a perfectly average figure - not average for a model, I'm sure, but certainly average in terms of real women in the real world. Those who accuse her of being obese, disgustingly fat, etc. must have very peculiar, skewed perceptions of what most people actually look like!
And besides which, what does it matter? People's body sizes vary - it's as simple as that! Why not embrace it, rather than immediately making rude, hateful remarks about someone who is slightly different from the type of figure that the fashion world has conditioned you to regard as "normal". The Internet seems to be degenerating into a place where people just want to hurl vitriol. That's not what life is supposed to be about, people!

Agreement on all your points. But this is why the media wields such power: they spend billions of dollars to figure out just what it is that captures the human mind and makes people believe the things they do. Some people just have too much time on their hands and don't use that time to educate themselves.

Gorgeous face. No doubt!...

But she is big......

If she looses 20lb she'll look better, healthier and I'm sure she'll feel more confident herself.
06:36 AM on 04/02/2010
Feel more confident about herself? In what way does she look unconfident? She's a beautful girl and appears comfortable enough in her skin to pose nude. How many people can say that about themselves?
04:51 PM on 04/02/2010
The real confidence doesn't shown on her face and eyes. The eyes are the mirror of the soul and confidence. And posing nude not necessarily the proof of confidence. Most people do everything for fame and money. And most of those are not confident in their own skin at all.

Concur

But I think men are intimidated as well as are some women because she is so "curvy" and she appears extremely physically strong which is still a "no-no" for women who are trying to portray their feminity or "sex appeal." Women athletes can be strong but not women models. She crosses the line.

To paraphrase R. D. Laing, what we think is less than what we know: what we know is less than what we love: what we love is so much less than what there is. And to that precise extent we are so much less than what we are.

Embrace the variety of life. If this woman turns you off, examine yourself. It;s not her fault.

Personally, she's a little too big for my taste, but I find her quite attractive, nonetheless. Also, I think the fashion world should have more plus-size models so they can further cater to women that don't look like a celery stick, are indeed beautiful, and could use some positive media reinforcement.
