First Posted: 05/26/10 06:12 AM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 05:00 PM ET

News of a South Korea ship sinking today off the coast of North Korea has once again boosted tensions between the East Asia neighbors.

The ship, said to have 104 crew on board, began sinking close to North Korea around 10:45 p.m. Friday night, and the exact cause was not immediately clear. Officials later said the ship had sunk.

But news involving South Korean ships or North Korean ships is not uncommon, as the two nations frequently patrol the Sea Of Japan, also known as the East Sea in South Korea and Korea East Seat in North Korea.

Here's a roundup of South Korea and North Korea water-related developments in the news the last few years. Rate each as a major or minor development.

The North wants to be blown further North...and is seeking attention. Trying to pull us, this country into a fight. We cannot afford it in men, lives or dollars. But they must be sent a message. Elbowed real hard.
What is the real message? And to whom? For their Southern neigbbors--relatives? Or for us. I am curious to find out. REal curious. http://www.zipinpolitics.com

the korean penn, will become more unstable after the dear leader dies. He is in poor health and this is probably the beginning of the power struggle. very dangerous because the list of successors are nuttier than the dear leader.
