Quentin Rashad Wyche, Kendall Berry's Killer? Floridian Arrested

Quentin Rashad Wyche, a 22-year-old Floridian, has been arrested in connection with the murder of Florida International running back Kendall Berry. Berry was stabbed to death on campus Thursday night.

According to the AP, Wyche turned himself in.

Police said Wyche would be charged with second-degree murder and held without bond. Wyche was in training camp with FIU's football team last summer, though his name does not appear on the team's 2009 roster....

Investigators said Berry and Wyche got into a "verbal dispute" and Wyche pulled out an unknown sharp object and stabbed Berry around 9 p.m. Thursday night. It was unclear what the dispute was about.

A MySpace search for Quentin Wyche reveals the profile for a Florida man who is interested in "slaggin and basketball." It is not clear whether this is the same Quentin Wyche who is expected to be charged with Berry's murder.

How would you all feel if you talked to your cousin 3 hours before you get a phone call saying he's dead???? That wouldn't be a very good feeling. The first thing you would say is : IT CAN'T BE TRUE, I JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH HIM. Because thats what I did.

This is the wrong picture of the wrong person, i am a close friend of Quentin who grew up with him in DeLand Florida, and this is a picture of me. James Grubbs, and i invite any of you to go look at my myspace profile where this picture came from. This in no way has anything to do with criminal activity. I was on a jobsite roofing in Maryland where i live and if any of you know anything about duct work or insulation you know that the material is made with fine needle like particles that can really irritate your skin. I tied a shirt around my head to keep this from happening and if you go look at the profile you will even see the caption " Roofin, tryin to keep that stuff out my face". This is terrible journalism and the person who took that picture and decided to use it should be ashamed. If they did their homework correctly they would know that this is not Quentin, and they would also be able to see that Quentin actually commented on it himself, and that he is a top friend on my page with his name right over his picture.

Wow. How extraordinary that they can take someone's picture off their myspace site and use it without even verifying if it's the person they are accusing of a crime or not. What has the media reduced itself to by doing this? This is criminal within itself. Your reputation is at stake here with this picture that's supposed to be someone else. How crude!

Please tell me where you see any opinion in this article. According to the Associated Press, Wyche turned himself in. That is an admission of guilt. The usual rule that state you can't list a person's name in connection with a crime until they are officially charged does not apply.
So, what's the problem (I have a B.A. in Journalism)? I don't see it.

Well, Breni... I agree that journalism seems to be in bad shape nowadays. This article seemed to be nothing but a few facts and some fluff... I especially like the part where they say "a my space search" revealed the picture they posted...may or may not be their dude. Who knows? But we'll put up his pic anyway....LOL

Of course, everybody knows that My Space is where all of today's journalists seek out The News.... it sure beats standing on a field in Afghanistan. That "field journalism" is just so old school, ya know?

There are children in the world today who are raising their parents and doing a pretty good job; and yes, there are also children who raised themselves and their siblings, graduated from college, and are now positive role models for others.
