TWO Models Fall At Same China Fashion Week Show (PHOTOS)

First Posted: 05/29/2010 5:12 am   Updated: 05/25/2011 4:00 pm

It was a fashion pile-up as not one, but two models fell down on the runway because of too-high heels during the AsahiKASEI Prize Zhang Yichao Show at China Fashion Week on Monday in Beijing. But these girls are in good company: falling on the runway is a rite of passage in fashion. Naomi Campbell has done it, Agyness Deyn recently did. But still: ouch.

How long until some brilliant designer decides to have his/her models walk the catwalk in stilts?

Wear stupid shoes, you fall down. Is that sexy? How about back trouble or broken ankles or deformed toes? What's up with all the high heels which seem so ubiquitous these days? Perhaps a conspiracy formed by podiatrists to get business? This is a trend that should be resisted!

Hobbled!! Those shoes, like Alexander McQueen's lobster claw shoes, are a disgrace. I wish women would have the eggs to stand up for themselves and say "no" to stupid, dangerous shoes and idiotic fashions. I hope the models are okay.

I hope neither one of these girls broke an ankle. Long dresses and 10" heels just don't mix.

Did anyone at all say," We can't walk in these?" This is demeaning, and women should speak up and plain refuse to put these on. And we thought it was bad when Chinese women were forced to bind their daughter's feet. I think that was banned in 1912, anyone at this fashion show hear the news??

Okay, did they watch that James Bond movie from 1985 where the opening credits had the chicks with the big hair and day-glo make-up? The only thing from that picture above is a black light and Duran Duran...

These shoes are outrageous, ugly, dangerous and designed by men. Women complain about glass ceilings yet don't even have the courageous to say no.

Some men might grow to love glass ceilings if they let the women get promoted above them... no pun intended...

(sorry for the BAD joke - if women aren't given a deserved promotion via the 'glass ceiling' principle, they really should fight for what is right. They'd get real men to help, and not ones who would look up out of vain convenience either.)

I've never actually seen any woman wearing these tall shoes except on runways and in movie-star magazines. Certainly not in real life.

Unfortunately I have seen a few fashionistas wear these shoes at some functions I attended. They are looked upon in a more humorous way than that of some type of fashion
icon.

Ripped off from somebody else; I just mentioned a certain James Bond flick from 1985 where the same styles were quite visible. :-D

Well, for most of them - looks like a couple of people liked the star wars prequels with Queen Ama1DCliche in them...

If you look closely, you'll see shiny silvery reflective platform shoes that were popular in America during, you guessed it, the disco days of 1977... that's why those shoes were absconded. People kept tripping over them, and there's a reason platform shoes were regulated so nobody could make them thicker than two inches (and they're all wearing what look like 6 or 12" versions...)

Yeah, that is true -- a friend broke her ankle back in the day on platforms

I wonder where the garments were made... probably by union workers in the USA... (not)

I love falling models. There's something profoundly erotic about the sound of their tiny, bird-like bones snapping. One imagines that a lawn roller, correctly applied, could produce a sound just like bacon frying.

Delightful.

Too high heels, long draggy skirts, partially malnourished models = falls.

Hopefully, no one will snap an ankle which would be painful for all concerned.
