China Fashion Week's Platform Stilettos: Absolutely Fabulous Or Absolutely Insane? (PHOTOS, POLL)

After two models fell at yesterday's AsahiKASEI Prize Zhang Yichao Show at China Fashion Week, we decided to further investigate the suspect footwear. Some of the platform stilettos appear to be ten-inches-tall! Some are see-through, some are bejeweled and bedazzled, some are decorated with flowers and some appear to actually be taped onto the models' feet. Which of these pairs are absolutely insane? And--for the bravest stylistas out there--which are absolutely fabulous?

Looks like some of the models are wrapping clear plastic mailing tape to keep them on.

These are stripper heels. You can get these for 30 bucks on Hollywood Blvd. There have been amazingly imaginative shoe designs happening in fashion for the last several years but they're not happening here.

LOVE THEM!!!! They look exactly like the shoes I used to wear when I was a stripper! Too bad you can't wear them everyday without looking like you just got off your shift at the local 'gentleman's' club. BTW: They are EXTREMELY easy to walk (do cartwheels, splits, run) in because of the platform. Get rid of the platform and only have the stiletto heel and that's another story. If you notice their feet look 'level' for the lack of a better word, where as without the platform you are balancing the weight of your body on the ball of your foot (all night, LOL). These are MUCH better for the bones in your feet than stilettos. Another BTW: They already make and sell them and have for many, many years. Check out Pleaser USA for instance.

I don't understand how these models can walk in these at all. I wouldn't be able to take two steps. I can hurt myself walking around in bare feet for crying out loud (no one has ever mistaken me for graceful). As much as I love wearing high heels, having people walk in these type of extreme things is just cruel.

Most of those shoes will probably never make it into production unless someone specifically asks for them; they are for show...for art purposes. And heels are not torture devices for everyone who wears them. I happen to love wearing heels, and I think most of those shoes are beautiful. A lot of craftsmanship goes into making them, and whatever your ideas about so called modern day "binding" and feminist liberalism, everybody can wear whatever they want. Most men would not be caught dead in a skirt. So should all men stop wearing kilts because many men think it's unacceptable?

Be a little more open-minded people!

Our secretary's orthopod and physical therapist will disagree with you. She has completely trashed her knees wearing 5 inch heels. She can barely walk. Nothing higher than 2 1/2 inches for me . . . preferably bare feet.

Wear your heels and accept the consequences.

I thought all of these shoes were atrocious.
