Keith Olbermann Jokes About Running Against Scott Brown (VIDEO)

Keith Olbermann returned to "Countdown" for good Monday night following the death of his father earlier this month, and he came back on a light note: making fun of Scott Brown and joking that he would run against him in 2012.

Olbermann awarded Brown the bronze medal in his "Worst Persons in the World" segment over his adviser's comments that perhaps the Democrats in Massachusetts will draft Olbermann to run against Brown now that Rachel Maddow has said she's not running.

"[Brown's] people not only have not apologized for making up a rumor that the Democrats in Massachusetts had approached Rachel Maddow to run against him," Olbermann said. "They will not even acknowledge that it's not true. And they're still trying to fundraise off of it. And now they dragged me into this."

Olbermann quoted Brown adviser Eric Ferhnstrom, who said, "It was an open secret that the Democrats were trying to recruit Rachel Maddow to run against Scott Brown in 2012. Now that she said no, I'm sure they'll scurry around looking for someone else. Maybe Keith Olbermann's available."

"Hey, I can run against Scott Brown," Olbermann joked. "I'm fully qualified to run against Scott Brown. I lived in Massachusetts. This was in 1984. So it puts me about 26 years behind the times there, which is still closer than the senator is. I was once named Playgirl's sexiest newscaster, almost like Cosmo. I worked at WCVB in Boston, where his wife works."

Olbermann turned on a Boston accent for his punchline: "And most importantly, I own a barn coat!"

Later in the segment, Olbermann gave Bill O'Reilly the gold for reportedly reading Playboy on an airplane.
