Tina Fey & Steve Carell On 'Oprah' (VIDEO)

Fey Carell Oprah

Tina Fey and Steve Carell appeared on "Oprah" today to promote their upcoming film "Date Night." Winfrey started the interview by asking Fey how she feels being labeled "the thinking man's sex symbol."

"I've heard that," she said, "and I sort of feel like that's not really a thing, because I feel like even the thinking man wants Megan Fox and Jessica Simpson. Like, the thinking man's like: 'Yeah, get out of here. I see Jessica Simpson."

"I think she's a sex symbol of the idiot and the thinking man, frankly," Carell piped in.

Later Tina turned the tables on Oprah saying, "You are always the interviewer, you're never the interviewee. If you could have dinner with any person, living or dead, in the history of the world, what would you order?"

"I would probably you know, have Jesus over for fried chicken," Oprah said, but Fey didn't let the bit go there.

"What is going on with you and Jamie Foxx? Because I feel like he might be in love with you," Tina asked.

"I like him. He likes me. We email, text. It's a really good friend thing. It really is," Oprah said...a little awkwardly.

In between interview segments, Oprah showed pretaped hilarity between Tina & Steve. In this segment, Fey and Carell each pretend to be Oprah and things get steamy.

The direction and camera work was atrocious. The twice a minute camera changes and edits reminded me of a 1980s Hall and Oates video. Distracting, amateurish, and sucked all the humor out of the scene. In rock videos, you do the ADHD editing to create excitement in a boring song, or to create the illusion of excellent dancing when the singer has no such talent. Fey and Carrell are effective comedians at the tops of their games. Their timing and reaction shots were totally blown by the schizophrenic direction.

I love Tina Fey. She is pretty, smart, and unafraid to try anything. Her impersonation of Sarah Palin rocked.

Tina is so funny and such an awesome writer.
She writes great male leads.

We've lost so many great female comediennes lately.
It's so nice to see high quality replacing them.

Bea Arthur comes to mind.

its cool how so many of the original correspondents from the Daily Show have reached individual success on their own. Steve Carrell, Stephen Colbert, Ed Helms...

now if only Mo Rocca would come back

I don't understand, if Tina Fey and Steve Carell were hilarious while talking about Oprah, why didn't HP show us that clip instead of this one?
