Kathleen Sebelius Condemns Westboro Protestors, Roots For Dead Marine's Father (VIDEO)

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius sharply criticized on Wednesday the anti-gay protesters who come to military funerals bearing messages like "Thank God for dead soldiers."

In an appearance on "The Michael Smerconish Show," Sebelius publicly voiced her support for Albert Snyder, whose lawsuit against the inflammatory Westboro Baptist Church for picketing his son's funeral has made it all the way to the Supreme Court.

"Well, I was thrilled that Mr. Snyder brought that lawsuit. I certainly am rooting for him," Sebelius said.

Such a statement is rare for a sitting member of a presidential cabinet, but as Sebelius noted, she had personal experience with the effects of the Westboro protests during her years as governor of Kansas.

"I, as commander-in-chief of the National Guard, went to funerals all over Kansas, and what they are doing is totally disgraceful," she said. "And I am appalled every time I think about the fact that families, in addition to having a son or daughter who has sacrificed and served, have to put up with someone who is disgracing their opportunity to mourn and bring some closure. It is really unacceptable."
