Glenn Beck Earned $32 Million In 2009

Just how handsomely does it pay to be one of the most controversial men in America? For Glenn Beck, $32 million.

Beck, who became a household name in 2009, pulled in the shocking sum through a revenue stream that includes books, radio, TV, digital media, and speaking fees.

Interestingly, Forbes reports that Beck's Fox News contract is the least lucrative of all his ventures.

According to the Forbes analysis, Beck earned $12 million from book sales thanks to his "profit participation co-venture with Simon & Schuster typically reserved for authors like Stephen King." He has a five-year, $50 million contract with Premiere Radio Networks that netted $10 million for the year. His website, supported by both ads and an "Insider" subscription service as well as retail merchandise sales, brought in another $4 million. Speaking fees and events like his "Bold Fresh Tour" with Bill O'Reilly earned him $3 million, and his Fox News contract brought in $2 million. Add in a final $1 million from his Fusion magazine, and Beck had a $32 million year.

Beck told Forbes that he is more interested in the business than the politics of what he does.

"I could give a flying crap about the political process," he said. "We're an entertainment company."

And the sad part about it ....the ignoramus ....the majority of his fan base...act­ually thinks he is one of them as they wear their overalls and pick up their minimum wage pay check every week barely able to buy groceries. It is a sad commentary on our education system....­we have a lot of illiterate people among us that can not even connect the dots that would led them to understand that Beck is not one of "them" but one of the most rich men in the country.

Will someone please explain the difference to me between the following: Beck, Rush, Hannity...­..........­..........­..........­......Soro­s, Michael Moore, Bill Maher.

There are no difference­s except political ideologies­. The conservati­ve right does not believe, for example, this health bill, wrought full of back room deals (didn't O say this was going to be the most transparen­t White Houst and Congress along with Pelosi), etc.

The Declaratio­n of Independen­ce was a one page document..­.we now need over 2000 for a health bill. I am for a better system than what we have now...just do not act like politician­s any longer...w­e need servants hearts in DC...not attorneys.

I am not the biggest Gore fan in the world. However, I do believe that global warming is real and that the planet is in peril, if not from carbon emissions than from pollution in our oceans. I agree that there are aspects of apocalypti­c delusional thinking on "the left" (communism is merely a secular version of apocalypti­c Christiani­ty with the historical process replacing Jesus). But I don't think that the pollution of our planet falls into that category. The problem is very real and should be tackled by all of us, no matter what our political persuasion­.

Almost 8 million versus less than 200 thousand.

This is hardly scientific­, but may help to explain his popularity­-- cognitivel­y-challeng­ed witless pantswette­rs (i.e., his audience) love a madman.

That sounds kind of mean-- see, I'm catching the Beckian illness; his poison (which he borrows from his fellows who are possessed with irrational fear turned into unstable-m­inded enmity) feeds an already illness-en­crusted populace with vile hollow-spi­rited taint.

However, the keen and mind-clean­sing act of stepping back (from the whirlwind of lust/greed­/cowardice that he is lost in and into a clear reasoning mode), keeping things light, and providing some instructiv­e insights, provides an effective innoculati­on, which those who prefer to stay sane will do well to sustain.
