A. Sediba Fossil Find (VIDEO): How A Father And Son Made A Groundbreaking Discovery

Two skeletons almost 2 million years old that are part of an unknown species have caused a stir among scientists, as they could fit the evolution from apes to humans, it was announced last Thursday.

The fossils, known as Australopithecus Sediba, were found by paleontologist Lee Berger and his 11-year-old son Matthew Berger. The father/son team took 60 Minutes' Bob Simon to the site of their discovery in the Malapa Nature Reserve outside of Johannesburg, South Africa.

Matthew reenacts how he chanced upon a fossilized collarbone of a 9-year-old boy, the same age Matthew was at the time of the discovery.

"Here's a rock that looks about the same size," Matthew said, picking it up. "And when I turned it over, there was a fossil."
