Elizabeth Taylor: I Love Jason Winters, But We're Not Engaged

Despite recent reports that Elizabeth Taylor was engaged to be married to Jason Winters, there are no plans for a ninth wedding anytime soon.

Taylor has taken to Twitter for the first time in more than a month to set the record straight:

I never believed it.
Some time ago, she made it very clear they were just good friends and she would not marry again. But the media love to make waves. I remember when some magazine claimed that she was going to change her skin color to black.
This is a constant in the press: Is it a slow news day? Let's make up some filth about Elizabet Taylor.

All that controversy about her supposed engagement, over 1,000 comments, and it was a complete fabrication. Kind of makes me mad actually. We've been made fools of (or we have made fools of ourselves). I love Liz and am glad she does have such a close and caring friend.

Few have done more than Elizabeth Taylor to ease the worldwide ravages of HIVAIDS. Her early call to action at a time when serious discussion in this country surrounded the need to quarantine HIV patients was heroic. History will no doubt judge that moment as a turning point in the management of the epidemic.

So she's not engaged....we hope she's as happy and healthy as the untold millions of lives she helped to save.
