Stupid Fight Ranks Stupidity On Twitter: Whose Followers Are Dumbest? (PICTURES)

Twitter can be a valuable platform through which people share breaking news, pithy opinions, and amusing links (140 characters at a time). It can also be a forum for petty disputes, inane chatter, and the like.

Tom Scott, the techie behind Tweleted, has harnessed Twitter's powers (both the good and the not-so-great) to bring you 'Stupid Fight', a service that compares the intelligence (or stupidity) of followers on a given celeb's account.

Stupid Fight analyzes the last 100 Tweets and produces a verdict. Scott provides more details:

Stupid Fight can't go out and administer an intelligence test to each person that's sending messages to a celebrity. So instead, it estimates based on several stupid indicators. Are they using twenty exclamation marks in a row? Do they endlessly use the abbreviation 'OMG'? Do they seem incapable of working out where their Shift key is? These indicators have a strong correlation with the message, and its sender, being stupid.

We tried our hand at a few Stupid Fights, comparing Glenn Beck's followers to Rachel Maddow's, Sarah Palin's to Justin Bieber's, Lady Gaga's to Kim Kardashian's, and more. In the case of Conan O'Brien vs. Miley Cyrus, while Conan's followers fell between "smart as a whip" and "thick as two short planks," Miley's followers were overwhelming "dumb as a bag of hammers."

Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber fans are quite young - pre-teens and younger. Why would you compare them to the adults who follow Conan O'Brian and Sarah Palin?

Really! And compare political figures to other political figures. Fouling up commentary on a musician really isn't likely to have severe ramifications. Sarah's errors and lies belong to a whole different category.

Considering the fact that Justin Bieber's fans are on average 10-16 yrs old and Sarah Palin's fans average an IQ in the same range, I'd have to say The Queen of the Iquitarod Parade's fans are stupider.
