Court Yard Hounds

people.com:

It's been four years since the Dixie Chicks released their Grammy-winning album Taking the Long Way in 2006. But the lull in releases doesn't mean the band members haven't been creating.

While the Chicks are still on hiatus, sisters Martie Maguire and Emily Robison have formed a new band, the Court Yard Hounds, and are readying their first album, a self-titled disc, for release on May 4. And PEOPLE.com is giving you a sneak peek â€" with an exclusive first listen to the lilting "I Miss You," which features Robison on lead vocals.

I'm glad to see the Chicks together, again. They are so talented, all three and it was a shame what was done to them by country radio. Blackballing them was a bitter pill to swallow. Other than Keith Urban, they are all the country I can get into unless of course Willie is in the house.

We were are all being called unpatriotic then for not support Bush/Cheney and their Big Lie about Iraq. I was ashamed of him too, and never used his name in the same sentence where President is used. He will always be an upstart who the Supremes annoited, and just another regime of illegality.

But it was country music, where they are almost all Republican or other entertainers kowtowed to the hillbillires.

They are the most talented 3 women in any genre, and I hope they never set foot in Nashville agin.

I listed to the song and its...pleasant. There's nothing wrong with the song, but its a touch boring. It doesn't sound like she can't wait to kiss him. Sounds like she's on the side of a dustry road watching the cars drive by.

Speaking honestly, although the sisters stood behind Natalie during the whole backlash, I always felt like they secretly wanted to jerk their hands from her grasp for making those comments. Its only natural.

I wouldn't be surprised if Natalie came out with a solo album. As great muscians as the sisters are, Natalie's voice is something ridiculously special. Typically this is how a band does a soft, "We'll be back...maybe", breakup.

Its not about if the sisters put out a successful album. If Natalie puts ot a successful album then the sisters will have made a bad bet.

Love the Chicks 4ever!!!!

they are talented, but the switching is as much as their marriages.
They are not content with any one thing.

I'm notnotNOT a country music fan. But when I was in Dallas in 1994 I bought a cassette of "Little Ol' Cowgirl" and that's when I started loving the Dixie Chicks. That was before they jettisoned Laura Lynch and Robin Macy and let Natalie Maines change their direction.

I hope they've returned to their classic style.

Anyone can sing a song , some people can play instruments pretty good . These women are incredibly talented . Not very many artists today can Play , sing , and write as well . Go Dixie Chicks !

I will always be angry at right wingers for the way they treated the Dixie Chicks . Natalie was right too .
02:31 AM on 04/14/2010
Natalie may have been right but she didn't have the courage of her convictions. She made her anti-Bush statement, then she apologized for it, and then several months later she rescinded the apology.

She got afraid she was going to lose money.

I'm not going to fault Natalie for not being braver than she was since there were a lot of people burning dolls of them in effigy, and scared Americans wanted to take out their fears on her in particular.

Bravery and hind sight are 20/20.

Bill Maher was excoriated too and lost a gig for his "un-American" comments. Since then, more people have come around to his way of thinking and is going stronger than ever.

The scary thing is, the band never recovered. I mean, the critical acclaim and the Grammy's were there, but in the US, country radio continued to abandon them, and their sales and concert tour suffered.

In Canada, everything proceeded as if nothing had happened. The album was huge on country radio, and the tour sold out from coast to coast.

I don't think their concert tour suffered.

It was clear channel and sinclair that censored the Chicks and then claimed their listeners didn't want to hear them . This is one of the reasons that the government used to not allow one company to own so many stations . I have to give credit to John McCain of all people, who actually berated the head of Clear Channel during a senate hearing for censorship involving the Dixie Chicks .

I love Martie and Emily but Natalie, please come back! I love the Dixie Chicks, and miss them terribly. He!! with "country music," alt country is where it's at. Most of country music is whining about the good ol' days, the virtues of the conventional, or the glories of alcohol. Alt country is about everything else.

These two are super talented in their own right. Still, Natalie's unique vocals will be greatly missed by this fan.

The Dixie Chicks seriously screwed up. More than once. Natalie Maines went onstage in London (as every country fan points out, "a foreign country!") and bad-mouthed a US President while we were at war. There goes most of their country fans.

Then they make it worse by letting Natalie spout off even more while picking public fights with other country music stars.

Then they get a new producer and choose to badmouth what was left of their country music fans, becoming media darlings to people who were never their fans to begin with.

Great musicians. Not-very-bright celebrities.

This is pure bunk. The Chicks NEVER lost their true fans. And their albums sold huge quantities and they continued to win awards following the Bush comments made by Natalie. However, country fans definitely the most judgemental and are quick to turn their backs on you if you have differing political views. Every American is entitled to their own opinions about their government and its leaders. The same hypocrites who criticize the Chicks over the Bush matter are the same goons who villify and demean in the most vile terms our current President to anyone who will listen and in any venue. Members of Congress travel oversees specifically to disparage president Obama. What Natalie did seems a lot more tame than what is going on right now.

Au contraire, the Chicks did America proud speaking freely. That seems pretty dam American to me! Those who hate free speech hate the Chicks and are unworthy of America.
