Bo Obama's First Anniversary: One Year In The White House (VIDEOS, PHOTOS, POLL)

Of all the tear-jerking moments of Obama's victory speech on election night, one of the most moving was when the president-elect said "Sasha and Malia, you have earned the new puppy that's coming with us to the White House." So the nation waited with bated breath, speculating over what kind of dog the first family would get; Obama suggested it would be a mutt "like me." But Malia's allergies required that the dog be hypoallergenic, so in the end, they settled on a Portuguese Water Dog given to them by the late Senator Ted Kennedy.

Bo was born under the name Amigo's New Hope on October 9th, 2008, and arrived in his new home in early April, 2009. He was then renamed after Michelle Obama's father, whose nickname was 'Diddley.' He made his long-anticipated public debut on April 14th, 2009.

See Bo's first year of leaping, panting, walking his owners, rolling over, and--perhaps most exciting--meeting Oprah.
