Forbes: America's Best Cities For Business Mostly In West, South And Iowa (PHOTOS)

First Posted: 06/15/10 06:12 AM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 05:10 PM ET

This week Forbes released its list of the best cities in America for business. The list, which was calculated based on factors like business costs, living costs, educated workforce supply and expected job growth, was dominated by mid-sized metro areas in the middle of the country. Four of the top 15 business-friendly cities were in Colorado, while two were in Iowa. The south also had four cities on the list.

According to Forbes, small midwestern markets are benefiting from the fact that "Businesses on both coasts still face outrageous costs and indebted state governments with budget shortfalls that will have to be filled from the flesh of local firms."

Check out Forbes's top 15:

Wow! The I-25 plus the I-80 corridors from Colorado Springs to Denver to Boulder to Lincoln, Omaha, Des Moines, and Cedar Rapids. That's quite a solid line.

Not sure how you include Colorado Springs right now?!?!? They are in quite a muck regarding the economy and city services. Maybe that's just me though.

Yup and kinda proves that green and liberal and conservative etc. don't mean much, as seems to me the cities listed are known for all political persuasions-I mean really Boulder Co. , Huntsville Al, Provo Ut.
that sez it all.

Another slideshow where the photo's are meaningless. If there's nothing to show, just write an article please. In less space than a single slide I could have quickly read all you communicated in 10 pages.

They pointed you right to the Forbes article in the third and fourth words.

Yup, I could. And that means more waiting and hassle to find out what I want to know.

Over the past 2 or 3 months HuffPost has degraded it's ability to deliver information quickly.

I told my "unemployed" son to stay in Denver this past winter and keep applying; he did. He finally got a job working with a non-profit promoting more cycling, less driving...you kids out there, listen to your mothers!

Would make more sense when matched with best cities for employees.

Best for business. Not so hot for people. I went through all the pictures and barely saw any one on the streets.

Can't speak for the other states, but for Colorado that is because the pictures were taken of our gorgeous skylines against the backdrop of the Rocky Mountains. Hard to make out people ( or streets ) from those perspectives.

I've been to New York and you guys can't party like Boulder =D. However, you party much better than Colorado Springs and about the same as Denver.

What...famous for the streets blowing up with steam vents..?? So many taxis it looks like a sea of yellow...so much pollution that I had to clean the decks of my Yacht everyday to get the black soot off, thinking..this is going in my lungs...water so dirty you can't eat the fish that comes out of it...

I'll take the clear mountain streams...

NYC?

Keep it it yours..(no personal offense intended)
