Norway's Stranded Prime Minister Uses iPad To Govern From U.S.

First Posted: 06/15/10 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 05:10 PM ET

An enormous volcanic ash cloud has shut down air travel in Europe, canceling flights and stranding Europe-bound passengers around the world.

But thanks to the iPad, stranded Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg hasn't had any trouble.

Stoltenberg, who traveled from Oslo to the U.S. to participate in President Obama's nuclear summit, is now stuck in New York City. Stoltenberg's press secretary told CNN that the prime minister has been running his government from Apple's tablet.

A photo of Stoltenberg on the Norwegian Government's official Flickr account shows the prime minister and his iPad under the (translated) title "The prime minister is working at the airport."

(Flickr headline translated using Google Translate)

It is only Norway (no offense) after all. A Blackberry Bold would have been more than enough.

ok.... so is where is my post pointing out that anyone with a laptop, smartphone, netbook could do the same thing as this non-story decribes and asking whether this was a blatant example of remunerated product placement?

Apropos of nothing in particular, Norway had a female Prime Minister awhile back, and the world did not end.

Hey, Viking! Make sure you download a calculator and a clock, because it won't come with it. Ah, but that's what iTunes is for.

Ahhh, yes, iTunes. The vending machine of world for media. Apple nickle and diming you to de|ath.

Oh, but you guys go back to suing everyone else under the sun for their "monopolies". Just keep putting your money in your mattress and praising your black turtleneck and jeans messiah.

From where I am sitting, I can see eight clocks. The fact that one doesn't come on an iPad wouldn't give me pause. Nor would the lack of a calculator, which I use perhaps two or three times a year.
The jealousy of Apple haters, many of whom have never owned the products they hate, is a never-ending source of amusement to me.

An Ipad??

The ultimate marketing tool...............

Anyone knows that a Macbook Pro is 10 times the machine an Ipad is.

Why isn't the leader of that country using a REAL computer to get his work done?

I have a 17" MacBook Pro. Love it. But, it is far toooo heavy to lug around. That's my only complaint about it. If I could do it over, I'd get a smaller one for sure.

The 15" is perfect size and very thin.
I've been through many laptops of all types and the 15" MBP is a for sure keeper.
I'm going through withdrawals now as it's in the shop getting the keys unstuck after wine spilled on it.

I must have to reboot or ctl/alt/delete the lenovo 5 times a day now.

Simply barbaric!!!!!!!

when this said running the government maybe all he's doing is using a thing called "electronic mail" or "email" to communicate with his people over there and they email him back. he then thinks about what they sent him and sends a reply. if that's the case (which i think it is) then I can run an empire on my DROID smart phone.

Cool. I can see Obama doing this also. Can you imagine Bush or any other Republican , like McConnell or Bouner. Right ! ! doubt they could turn it on.
