Tea Parties Protest Tax Day 2010 (PICTURES, VIDEO)

The Huffington Post     First Posted: 06/15/10 06:12 AM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 05:10 PM ET

It's Tax Day 2010 and the Tea Party is holding rallies across the country to push their conservative, small government message. This year a number of anti-Tea Party groups are out in force too.

From coast to coast, here are some of the key developments from today's Tax Day rallies and events:

The Pro-Obama Contingent
1 of 37
The Tea Partiers are being countered by a start-up group called "The Other 95%," which descended on D.C. on Thursday to protest "right across from Tea Party rally."

"Obama passed 25 separate tax cuts," Sheryl Stein, founding member of "The Other 95%" said in a statement announcing the group's plans, "including $300 billion in middle class tax cuts -- one of the largest in history - as part of the stimulus package. Unlike President Bush's 2001 tax cuts, which went to the wealthiest 2.2%, President Obama's tax cuts overwhelmingly benefit working and middle class families -- in fact, 95% of all Americans."

Here's the group's Facebook page.

Question to all you FAUX news driven Corporate Teapartiers...how do you downsize Federal Government???

Waste, abuse and fraud are only about 1%....

Programs that benefit Teapartiers..90%

1. Defense
2. Social Security
3. Medicare
4. Farm Subsidies
5. Interstate Highways
6. Veteran's Benefits
7. Home Mortgage Deductions....etc., etc.

The Federal Budget actually reflects ALL our interests....GOPers, Independents, Democrats, Conservatives, Liberals, AND YES THE TEAPARTY!!!!

No, my point is that they only want programs cut to others, not themselves.....

Where was all the indignation when Bush and the rubberstamp Congress of the first 6 years of his presidency were turning this country upside-down and leading it to the brink of economic disaster?

W's accomplishments were destroying jobs, destroying the economy, destroying our rights and adding trillions to the deficit, yet nary a word.

How about Medicare drug part D....costing 1.2 trillion dollars, enacted under Bush in 2005...more than the current HC bill. But it's "hands off my Medicare".....hypocritical at the least.

where were these people when bush co. was spending trillions on tax cuts to the rich and gifts for his big corp. donors, and stealing elections ,when rove rigged voting machines, and the sham roberts led court, turned us into a third world country by not allowing votes to be counted. oh that's right, they were too scared to protest, they would have been thrown in jail for treason, or some other trumped up charges.
never forget the bush corporate authoritarian police state . the lowest this country ever went and could go again as they are relentless for their brand of sick ma-fia like power. vote all rethugs out of office in the coming elections.

I've asked that so many times....NEVER get an answer...FAN # 33 for you.

Where was the Rethug indignation when their man Bush and the rubberstamp Congress of the first 6 years of his presidency were turning this country upside-down and leading it to the brink of economic disaster?

W's accomplishments were destroying jobs, destroying the economy, destroying our rights and adding trillions to the deficit.

With these trillions he sent overseas for Iraqi healthcare, we could have fixed every bridge, every road, every school and Universal HC for all.

I went to a Tax Day Tea Party and a Tea Party express rally days prior. We had peoples of all races (although I would have liked to see more) there. Everyone was there with there families having cookouts, speaking out (respectfully), being heard, being patriotic and just having a good time.

For those in the media and those that let the media do their thinking for them to say that we are racist and violent people only proves to me that they are only trying to create an issue where none exists. There was much more ugliness from the left when Bush was Prez..

We are only people that are tired of being ignored and would just like to be heard. I cannot understand why you libs would want to stand in the way of that?

So using your logic I could say..... Since it did not rain at my house today..... it has never rained nor will it ever rain anywhere again.

Wow .... is that a person wearing a gun at a healthcare rally?????

You are amazing.

Are you like Rip Van Winkle and just woke up from a 8 year sleep. Now all of a sudden you are sooooo concerned about the economy (which deficit was doubled by your beloved GWB. That administration gave a blind eye to the debacle in which we now face.

Just imagine a plumber (not Joe the Plumber he doesn't have a license) who busted your pipes, busted your sink, flooded your house. Of course you fire him. Then you hire someone else to come in and fix the mess the last plumber caused. Just imagine if you will the fired plumber coming back to your house telling you what a horrible job the present plumber is doing. BE HONEST. Would you consider a thing he says. EXACTLY. You know..... maybe ..... just maybe you are right on a few things but please know that your words are not credible just because your party done such a ABYSMAL HORRIBLE DEVASTATING job for eight years.

The fact that I saw no tea parties when the US debt doubled by 5 trillion bucks last administration makes it quite apparent that you all are just political hacks with absolutely no credibiltiy.

Why do you think the dems were voted in in 2006? Because they promised fiscal responsibility. Instead we got spending and spending and spending. So no, we didn't protest, we voted. And look what it got us.

Karl: Let me splain it to you. You don't seem to get it. The Tea Party is a tool. All teabaggers are tools. The Republicans use these tools to discredit Obama and other Democrats but when they get too crazy, Republicans start to distance themselves from the teabaggers.

Now, Obama and the Democrats understand that the Tea Party is a tool. All teabaggers are tools. The Democrats use these tools to discredit the Republicans.

The key thing to understand is that the Dems don't need to distance themselves from the teabagger tools. The Republicans do need to distance themselves, from time to time. Bottom line is these tools will end up helping Dems more than Repubs.

... and by the way, did I mention: teabaggers are tools.

---We had a great time at the rally and met many wonderful people from all over the country! I even talked with 6 people who admitted they voted for Obama and now regret doing so. The crowd was energized, and none of us saw any hate or racial language being used. Almost all of us had camcorders too just in case. ----the pics are now uploaded here,,with some new vids on the right side...enjoy!

Yet another delusional diagnosis from Dr. Rove!
08:52 AM on 04/18/2010
THEIR HYPOCRISIES AND STUPIDITIES ARE STAGGERING, which is WHY "Teabagger Conservatives" have NO CREDIBILITY or VALIDITY.

Why now? Why, at this time in history, have “Teabagger Conservatives” suddenly developed an “awareness” of the improvidence in government spending? Were they not aware of the TRILLIONS plus taxpayer dollars being pissed away in Iraq and Afghanistan?

Where was their deep “concern” about government spending BEFORE they lost the presidency? Were they not aware that Bush/Cheney EXPANDED the size and power of government to control their lives?

Where were "Teabagger Conservatives" during the eight years of Bush/Cheney ignoring "the constitution", while their corporate political policies were usurping our freedoms and destroying our economy, giving tax cuts to the rich they didn't need and we couldn't pay for, starting two wars we didn't need and couldn't pay for, spying on Americans in America, trashing the Geneva Convention and making torture a “legally sanctioned” government policy?

Where were "Teabagger Conservatives" when the middle class was being destroyed by corporate greed?

Where were "Teabagger Conservatives" when Insurance Companies, Banks and Wall Street ALL became TOO BIG TO FAIL and TOO RICH TO GO TO JAIL?

"Teabagger Conservatives" have no credibility or validity because the “Teabagger Movement” IS NOTING MORE THAN A PROPAGANDA ARM OF CORPORATE AMERICA......and "Teabagger Conservatives" are too ignorant, dysfunctional and gullible to realize that THEY are THEIR own worst enemies.

"Teabagger Conservatives" are clueless sheep being lead to slaughter having somehow convinced themselves that their butchers are their saviors.

One of the effects of getting older is a natural tendency to get more conservative, which includes a little paranoia, tunnel vision, and an abhorrence to try new things, ideas, etc. Some of us fight these tendencies, others embrace them. Guess which one of these the 'baggers are?

The first frame says the Obama admin has passed 25 tax cuts, and Eric Cantor said the other day the admin has passed 25 tax increases. Who is right? Is Cantor blatantly lying? Is someone going to call him out on it?

"The left is a minority. That's why they have to govern against the will of the people. If they didn't have control of the media they wouldn't win elections. They have control of the media, they have Hollywood, they have entertainment, and they have education. Those are the institutions that they have taken over and dominated. They're trying to get rid of any other institution that opposes them. I don't care what church it is, they're trying to get rid of it, if they can't get rid of it they're trying to infiltrate it so the church doesn't stand for what it used to anymore. They're trying to get rid of talk radio, trying to get rid of the right-wing blogs on the Internet. They're a minority made to appear as a majority because they have the media on their side." - Rush Limbaugh 4/15/2010

Well Rush, your 'GOP Delusion' fits right in with the 'God Delusion' that those churches are trying to intermingle with the United States government. They (the churches) need to stop that crap, and keep their delusions where they belong - in their Houses of Mythology. And you Rush, need to watch some non-FAUX News - your 'Conservatism is a majority, and is on the ascension", is a delusion too.

What do you think Ayn Rand would think of Sarah Palin?
04:13 PM on 04/18/2010
Facinating question. Palin has adopted 50% of Rand's Objectivist/Atheist philosophy.

I suspect that Rand, like most intelligent people, would think that Palin is an idiot. Watch the Rand/Donahue 1979 interview if you don't believe me. Rand skewers "believers", people that show empathy, and people that show special care for "retarded" people.

I can't, for the life of me, figure out how the religious, Wingnut , Tea Baggers in America, have managed to make heroes out of Ayn Rand and Thomas Paine. The freakin' world has turned upside down, and we're all tumblin' down the rabbit hole.

Karl, define "schizophrenic," would you please? Then try looking up the word "delusional" in your dictionary. Beside that word you might see your own picture.
06:14 AM on 04/18/2010
Take a look at frame 2 (of the 37) in the video/photo gallerry above.

The textual write up, for the photo reads . . .

"The man in the bloody Obama mask is Robert Johnson, 40, a computer consultant from Chicago.

'I'm protesting big government,' he told HuffPost at a rally in DC.

Asked if the bloodiness signified doctors getting "gouged" under Obamacare, Johnson said, "Doctors are gonna go John Galt."

"Go all JOHN GALT"? As in "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand?

This is a faux "Tea Party", driven by FAUX News and the Wingnuts of Radio. The participants in this current movement are, typically, sociopathic, Objectivist, fundyloons, that worship both the Bible, and Atlas Shrugged, at the very same time. They are, cleary, very confused Americans, that would have our Founding Fathers scratching their heads with bemusement. These modern day Tea Bagger clowns, in no way, resemble, or fight for the same cause, as the participants of the original Boston Tea Party.

Yo! Tea Baggers! Get a clue. Rand's Objectivist philososphy is rooted in Atheism. Could you just pull your shoulders back, get those knuckles off the ground, walk on two legs, and bring your silly, confused butts into the Age of Reason? Please?
06:52 AM on 04/18/2010
Need more proof of that the Tea Partiers are really just confused Randian Objectivists.

Watch the video "Tea Party's True Colors", in Frame 3 (of the 37), of the video/photo gallery above. A Tea Bagger proudly waves a sign reading " This is John Galt Speaking".

When you're done watching that, go to YouTube and watch the (1-5) videos of Phil Donahue's 1979 interview of Ayn Rand - you'll get a little glimpse of the "madness" that's bouncing around in these peoples heads.

Here's a link to the first video of the series...
