Indiana University honors student Gregory Willoughby died last week by inhaling a mix of toxic chemicals in his dorm room. IU officials are trying to figure out how his death went unnoticed for days.
The Indianapolis Star reports:
Police are investigating and have not determined when Willoughby, 21, was last seen. But a university spokesman said there was concern that it had taken so long for his absence to be noticed.
Wednesday, some who knew Willoughby were reeling at the news that the 21-year-old junior, a biochemistry major, was found dead in his room in the Willkie Quad North Tower. The door to his room and a door to a bathroom that he shared with a suitemate had been sealed.
Willoughby's friends and dormmates were shocked by his death. He's remembered as stellar academic and a great friend. He had talked of joining the Peace Corps.
