Marc Jacobs Bookstore

Designer Marc Jacobs is set to open a bookstore at 400 Bleecker Street in NYC's West Village, Racked reports. For 20 years, the space was Biography Book Shop so locals will be used to popping in and picking out a good read. And what will be the name of Jacobs' first foray into shilling literature? "Book Marc." Which is basically the best thing we've ever heard. A sign on the window says it will open this winter.

He has ruined the face of the West Village...Between his crappy flip flop and overpriced t-shirt store and his high end rag shops, the West Village (Bleeker Street in particular) is turning into a designer circus featuring a band of ugly clowns.

What a terrible shame that a old standby bookstore that has been a part of "The Village" for years is another victim of greedy landlords and money hungry designers. Jacobs should be ashamed he has become a part of this movement to displace local business people in favor of his selling high priced coffee table books on fashion.....

This is the future of the physical book: a boutique item purchased as a gift or collectible, or for other sentimental reasons.
