Rocky Mountain Remedies' Kandy Kush Voted Colorado's Best Strain Of Medical Marijuana

Marijuana

A Steamboat Springs medical marijuana dispensary laid claim over the weekend to having the best strain of medical marijuana in the state. "Kandy Kush," a specialty hybrid strain of marijuana grown by Rocky Mountain Remedies in Steamboat beat out 140 contestants at the inaugural Western Slope Cannabis Crown in Aspen.

Kevin Fisher, owner of Rocky Mountain Remedies, explained to the Steamboat Pilot that Kandy Kush is a hybrid between 4 strains of marijuana, and--unlike many hybrid strains--has a classic marijuana flavor.

The Western Slope Cannabis Crown, organized by NugSource and Alternative Medical Solutions magazines, was conceived as a Colorado version of the world-famous Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam. The two-day event brought thousands of growers, providers, patients, scientists, doctors and lawyers to Aspen to promote the industry and discuss marijuana.

I now pass out into my sleep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep
Don't let another stoner take
My weed and bong before I wake
Keep me safely in thy sight
Turn this darkness into Light
And in the morning let me awake
Breathing scents of wake 'n bake
God protect me in my dreams
Make life better than it seems
I know that time may swiftly fly
When I will find myself so high
In my Marijuana bed
Where I long to rest my head
Far away from all these scenes
To the place of all my dreams
Take me back into that land
Where weed is like your healing hand
Where the scent of ganja blows
That land where Marijuana grows
When I get there, I'll promise then
To never leave your side again...

Shows how much the underground marijuana industry is 'coming of age' in Colorado. Regardless of the 'best strain' ( I think there are many) this event really shows that this is a quickly emerging industry which is attracting many professionals... and national attention. Colorado ( for once) is positioned to be on the leading edge of this 'new' industry, like California...

I love the marijuana debate. Conservatives want it regulated and Liberals want No restricions.

In reality the larger shops will eventually get regulations in place forcing many shops to close and only the leaders to expand.

Great show..The organiziers were a little over welmed by the turn out. Those Buds look better in person then in the picture. Next year they will move to a bigger venue. I was there as an observer. Thousands of people smiling and talking green industry.I think the only bad thing that happened was the shake machine at Mcdondads could not keep up with the demand.. Great event. nice people, good ideas...What more do you need to say

Does the Kandy Kush have fruity undertones and a hint of coffee and leather on the palette?

I once smoked a strain that had no THC whatsoever. What a rip off that was. It was "homegrown" by a fellow 17 year old back in the 80's. And these were BUDS, not leaves.

Wow, what a coincidence. I smoked a strain in the 80's too. But mine had lots o' THC. I think you were smoking oregano.

..or they weren't cultivated right. Another friend of mine took some seeds and threw them out in the canyon. 6 months later he remembered what he had done and went out to check it. Plants everywhere, but the buds were 100% composed of mushy seeds.

New Medicine"? try old medicine. and while i see your point, if it were called zoloft or paxil would it be any more legitimate? Forcing the market for marijuana in the united states 100% black (as in black market) for the last 80 years came with dumb names for different strains of Marijuana.

The story between the lines above, is that not only is white market marijuana big business in Colorado, and the locals do it well. 80,000 card holders and rising.

Aquarius - you should read more history. Marijuana is a time-honored healing herb, along with hemlock, belladonna and a multitude of other plants. If you're a bible person then you should know that god provided man with all he needs to survive on the planet, including medicinal plants.

Marijuana was effectively demonized in the early days of the petroleum boom because somebody discovered hemp made a better, cheaper, sustainable, less corrosive machine oil than petroleum. The pharmaceutical companies have been trying for decades to outlaw common garden herbs such as garlic because people prefer them to the expensive, side-effect ridden poison they want you to buy.

The medical marijuana boom is not only helpful to people in chronic pain but also would be a big shot in the arm to local economies. It would also take the steam out of the drug cartels who rely on marijuana's illegality to boost their own profits.

Making marijuana legal would be a tremendous move forward for this country. Pretending it's anywhere on the level of alcohol or tobacco is infantile. Accusing people of faking to obtain medical marijuana is also infantile. You probably know many people yourself who suffer from chronic pain, mental anxieties, brain disorders or injuries, etc etc.

PS - Kandy Kush is no less ridiculous than any of the stupid names given to mainstream drugs. And if you need any proof that Pharma is the biggest pusher in this country just turn on your tv and wait 2 minutes.

Let's not forget companies like Dupont who also lobbied against MJ. hemp can do everything better than petroleum, it is easier on the land than cotton, etc...
Oil, oil based products (even plastic), fabrics, recreation (RJ Reynolds and Anheiser Busch were major lobbies against it also)... All big industry was against it, easier to control the supply/demand of oil than it is MJ/Hemp which can be grown everywhere by everyone easily. Not enough profit if everyone can grow their own.
Try and drill for oil in your backyard.

Saw a show on History Channel last night and they attributed MJ illegalization as a way to try and control mexican worker immigration in the southwestern states.

So let's see. Major reasons it was made illegal.
Greed and profit of big corporations, and as a racist way to control immigration.
hmmm...

How they 'sold it' to the public:
Leads to sex, murder, insanity (none proven, all laughable).

It's time people wake up to how this government has worked for a long time, why were people so easily misled by these corupt businessmen and politicians?
