CBS Working On 'View'-Style Talk Show With Julie Chen

CBS is working on a copycat of "The View" featuring CEO Les Moonves' wife (and "Early Show" co-host) Julie Chen, the New York Post's Page Six reports.

According to the report, Chen — who also hosts "Big Brother" for the network" — and "Roseanne" star Sara Gilbert are among the names about to shoot a pilot for a "new daytime panel chat show for mothers" on CBS. Other names considered for the show include Lisa Rinna and Bethenny Frankel.

"It's a daytime panel show to take on 'The View,' targeted at women with children and hosted by celebrities, journalists and regular moms," a CBS source told Page Six. "A pilot will be shot in early May."

Another offshoot of "The View," starring Paula Deen and targeted at working mothers, was in the works late last year but was reported to be "on life support."

The future of "The View" itself, meanwhile, remains the source of speculation: Barbara Walters said recently that the show, which is currently owned by ABC, is considering a switch to syndication and a move to the afternoon where it could fill the void left by Oprah's departing afternoon talk show.
