Jenna Lyons 'Oprah' Appearance: J. Crew's Creative Director Reveals A Day In Her Life, Talks Michelle Obama & Tips (VIDEO)

J. Crew's Creative Director Jenna Lyons--the brains behind the brand's recent makeover and enormous popularity--appeared on Oprah's 'Dream Jobs' episode on Wednesday. Lyons discussed landing her dream job, Michelle Obama, and her tips for dressing with panache.

In this first clip, Lyons walks viewers through a day in her life, which looks every bit as enviable as you'd imagine. Starting with her closet.

Last July, Huffington Post blogger Rachel Strugatz visited Jenna Lyons in her office at J. Crew headquarters. See what Jenna keeps on her desk and more here.

Then, naturally, Lyons and Oprah got around to talking about the first lady, J. Crew's most famous customer. Mrs. Obama famously wore a J. Crew ensemble on The Tonight Show during Sarah Palin's $150,000 wardrobe scandal.

Oprah admitted "When I saw the first lady, even before she became the first lady, wearing J. Crew--full disclosure here--I went and bought some J. Crew stock. And that was a very good decision."

Lyons also shared her tips on putting together a fabulous outfit.

I thought it was really weird. If my mom came high heel clicking into my room wearing sequined Alladin pants before she left me with my stay at home dad...I'd be depressed. Women these days...

Oprah owns stock in J Crew........, Well that's an Ah, Ha moment. Well maybe now they will have more diversity in their stores and Ad campaigns.

Clearly you know little about the impact of investors...J crew is making mucho dough just as they are and that is all they owe to investors...a return on their investment. Divesity in the work place is whole different set of issues....are you sure black folks go there to get jobs? Are you sure that many black folks go there for their clothes? The San Francisco Store had diversity....out in the suburbs there were few people of color, so the store reflected that. I think JCrew uses black models almost in ratio (numbers) to probably their black buying public...We get their catalogs and have been buying from them since the early 80's. At the time they were running a slow second to the GAP...Mickey Drexler left the GAP and went to JCREW...who is now outrunning everybody... There kids line has diversity....and they do set fashion pieces with families form time to time. I think actually they would have looked really phony to have Mrs. Obama wear a sweater and the next day have a catalog full of black folks...I think they probably reflect their customers in their ads at this point.

I happened to catch that show. The words that come to mind are "blatant excess" -- that, in spite of my belief in free enterprise.

The flower display made me cringe with sadness. A large and beautiful lake in Kenya is drying up because of the flower industry. Human genetic manipulation of flowers has taken all perfume out of them. People in their thirties have never experienced the alluring and wonderful fragrance of carnations and roses. The flower industry is up to its neck in the destruction of nature, and we sit back and say nothing; watch Oprah and her guests wave expensive flowers around like flags.

I am a huge Oprah fan, but on this, she needs to be called.

I also thought about the wastage of the flowers... I thought it was excessive as well.

Good for her. She gets paid the big bucks for passing out fashion tips that will make any circus clown proud.

So true!

They have lost all perspective and now are filled with repeats, incomprehensible prices, hideous jewelry with a ribbon theme that needs to go (the new line is just beyond awful) and all the models are not only stick thin but look like they are 18. I have lost all respect for the company - not that they care - they have all of Europe to "dress" now.

Their clothes are not made well anymore. I bought my daughter a dress from their months ago, and literally, after a few wearings, it started falling apart. It was a piece of garbage.

Why the catty whining...J crew has fabulous pieces...if you don't know how to gaze through the merchandising and find the gems...then its your loss!

Ugh, I'm sick of this woman. So she gets huge bonuses for going through grandma's closet, something any 11-years-old girl can do. What about all the other employees who don't go on Oprah? Were they lucky to even get a 5% raise this year? Probably not.
