Naomi Campbell Refuses To Testify In Charles Taylor 'Blood Diamond' Case, Breaks ABC News Camera (VIDEO)

Naomi Campbell was asked about the incident by ABC News, and refused to answer the questions. She finally ended the interviews by saying "Thank you so much, good bye." She couldn't stop herself, however, from seemingly hitting and smashing the camera on her way out.

The story will air tonight on Nightline.

Supermodel Naomi Campbell's lips are sealed about a huge, uncut "blood diamond" that was allegedly given to her by former Liberian President Charles Taylor, the New York Post reports. Campbell received the diamond in 1997 when she was a guest of Nelson Mandela's in South Africa. Mia Farrow recalled:

"Naomi Campbell came down...she said during the night some men had knocked on her door and she, half-asleep, had opened the door and it was representatives of President Charles Taylor and that they had given her a huge diamond. And we were like, 'Oh, my gosh.'"

Prosecutors have accused Taylor of using the blood diamonds to purchase weapons for the Sierra Leone rebels at the time. Approximately 50 victims of the violent events will testify in the Hague, however Campbell refuses and denies ever receiving the diamond.

How dare news reporters bother beautiful people about such an ugly subject! For shame! Also, I would like to thank Ms. Campbell's people for coming on this post and pointing out how poliet she was being and that news reporters should never go "off subject". It is important for members of the public to understand that beautiful people are within reason to expect the media to stick to talking points just politicians.

Naomi Campbell was being extremely polite to the interviewer who went rambling on and on about a subject that was definitely off topic. Instead of hitting the interviewer (which I would have done), she hit the camera.

Ms Campbell was being treated in a very rude manner. She "reacted", while the other "acted."

Imagine how rudely people involved in the blood diamond trade are treated.
That's something your little "princess" has never considered.
Of course, when you're wealthy enough to pay for a camera every time you get mad at an interviewer, I guess it doesn't matter.
Maybe the thing to do is make her pay for so many cameras that she goes bankrupt.
At appx $50k each that should be easy.

Somehow I doubt the comments would be so understanding of Campbell if US citizens actually knew the full extent of Charles Taylor's debauchery in Liberia, and western interest in further impoverishing the people in Western and Equatorial Africa. Given the fact that Ms. Campbell, just like the Reverend Pat Robertson, has refused to come before the Hague commission only speaks to her avarice and mercurial ability to feign interest in the plight of the world's oppressed.

Even pretty people do ugly things, and until she comes clean about the issue (supposedly she sold the diamond and gave the money to a Mandela-related charity) she is as culpable as the numerous multi-national firms digging their talons into Africa's untapped mineral resources, using every tactic possible -- including beguiling undemocratic warlords -- to obtain them, even if it leaves rivers of blood behind.
