Krispy Kreme KFC Double Down: Doughnut As Bun Makes "Luther Double Down" (PHOTO)

First Posted: 06/23/10 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 05:15 PM ET

It was bound to happen. In their "Will They Build It?" series, TopCultured has done the only reasonable thing left to the KFC Double Down: Give it a bun. A bun that is a Krispy Kreme Doughnut. And extra "Colonel's Sauce."

The mad scientists behind this explain:

With all the KFC Double Down hype recently (from the Double Double Down to the Quad Down and more) we knew we had to one-up all the madness that is this meat monster of a sandwich. What to do? Well the choice is obvious. Take the infamous Double Down and the fabled Luther Burger and make the KFC & Krispy Kreme Fried Chicken Luther Double Down Sandwich.

So what you've got here is one tasty mother of a sandwich that starts with a half Krispy Kreme glazed doughnut, extra Colonel's Sauce (gotta get in those added calories where you can), fried chicken breast, Colonel's Sauce, cheese slice, bacon, cheese slice, fried chicken breast and other half doughtnut.

A Luther Burger is any hamburger with a glazed donut standing in for a bun, currently popularized in the form of the infamous Krispy Kreme Bacon Cheesburger, and cash cow for the "This Is Why You're Fat" brand.

The KFC Krispy Kreme Double Down, a.k.a., the "Luther Double Down," coming in at 900 calories:

I knew the phrase "double down" involved two pieces of meat, but I never thought it was chicken.

I'd personally toss in a couple of egg yolks and substitute at least of of the breasts with fried liver or gizzards. Always serve with a side of Lipitor.

We make extra lean turkey burgers on grilled open face apple fritters ( donut), with onions, tomatoes and jalapenos!, Served up with nice thick sliced chips! Oh yay! The apple fritter is like a sweet , glazed bun. Granted we only eat like this once a week.
The rest of the week, we are back to egg whites, low fat protein, pro drinks, and an assortment of veggies.

Only 900? The Italian Combo at Panera Bread has 1000... AND comes with a bag of chips.
