E Ink, the display provider for the Amazon Kindle and Nook e-readers, is working on the next generation of its technology.
Provided that Kindle and Nook stick with E Ink, the next Kindle and Nook could look sharper and more animated.

The new-and-improved E Ink display, which hasn't officially been named yet, would offer a couple significant improvements over its predecessor. Most importantly, the contrast ratio will be much higher--"nearly double" what it is now, Gizmodo reports.
In addition, it would support simple animations--but no video support yet (or color, from the looks of it).
The new E Ink display could be available as soon as later this year.
