The brainy school's atmosphere, famously described as "the place where fun goes to die," is perhaps best summed up by the school cheer: "Themistocles, Thucydides/The Peloponnesian War,/X squared, Y squared/H2SO4/Who for? What for?/What the hell are we fighting for?/Go, Maroons!"

I can handle going to a school with an almost anti-social atmosphere if the classes are really intellectually stimulating. Chicago definitely sounds like it fits that bill. I can handle going to a party school if there are a good amount of smart people & interesting classes...kinda like what UNC is becoming. But my school barely has the smarts nor the party hard jocks. What a mistake I made!!!!!!!!

Hopefully going to Brown for grad school, or somewhere that will help me continue to become well-rounded. All of you saying that you have never heard of a student working hard, partying hard then graduating with honors most likely don't know anything about generation X. We are a bunch of overachievers who want to cut loose with the grey goose once in a while, if not multiple nights a week if you know what I mean.

I'll bet all the students at these schools get wasted beyond belief. Trying to repress the natural urges of kids who are ages 18-22, away from their parents, is pretty pointless.

Isn't it ironic that Swarthmore, the school that made #1 on Huffington Post's list of "Most Grueling" Colleges would never be seen on this list? A subjective impression is Swarthmore students are more well-rounded than most young adults, and this fact can indicate serious party power. The college should have made the "Party School" list, as well. An intelligent person knows that seriousness isn't everything.

Wouldn't a more reasonable conclusion be that there is something seriously un-serious about all such lists?

An intelligent person knows that drawing conclusions from internet polls can be highly inconclusive.

You would be surprised. National rankings:

- US News & World Report ranked BYU #71 overall in 2010
- #10 for students who go on to earn PhDs.
- #1 for students who go on to dental school.
- #6 for students who go on to law school.
- #10 for students who go on to medical school.
- Average ACT for accepted students: 28.2.
- #26 for most Merit Scholars in freshman class.
- Undergraduate business management program ranked between 16 and 29
- MBA ranked ranked between 16 and 29 nationally, 91 worldwide
- Undergraduate School of Accountancy ranked #3
- Master of Accountancy ranked #3 and #8

Perhaps the stereotypes you rely on are outdated...

Whoever did this did not do their research at all. MIT is easily the biggest party school in the Boston area. Like, we were once on PlayBoy's list of top party schools. And over 50% of the guys here are in fraternities, and it's not hard to find a party on almost any day of the week. And we always have people from Harvard, Wellesley, Northeastern, Boston University, Emerson, and Simmons at our parties. In fact, one of the biggest complaints I've heard is that there are too many non-MIT people at our parties.

I saw people bowling at Illinois Institute of Technology last week. The bowling alley was closed down but has since reopened.

I know an RA there. From what I have heard, there is plenty of partying going on at IIT.

I did my graduate studies at IIT and we partied. I think we were just discreet about it.

Johns Hopkins should be on this list. MSE library M-level (G.od forbid you go to D-level) is where most undergrads are on Friday nights at 1am.

Whoever came to the decision to put UChicago as the most anti-party school in the country clearly did not do their homework very well. Plenty of kids party here. Greek life definitely exists and students go out multiple times a week to get hammered and have fun. Perhaps the author of this list should have consulted students before coming to the conclusion that UChicago is anti-party. We probably have one of the most lax alcohol policies of any of the schools on the list. Definitely more lax than BYU! Shame on the Huffington post for publishing such a poorly researched article.

I attended a venerable party school as an undergrad (Michigan State), then went to U of Chicago for grad school. When I saw this headline, I said: this list will have zero credibility if Chicago is not on it somewhere. Seriously serious school.
