Danny Silver Living On 'I Am Here' Billboard To Raise Money, Awareness About Homelessness

To bring the public's attention to the plight of an often overlooked population, Austin, Texas nonprofit Mobile Loaves & Fishes is using a unique approach: a billboard along a major freeway. The I Am Here campaign aims to literally "raise the visibility" of the local homeless community.

KVUE reports the billboard highlights the story of Danny Silver, an out-of-work construction worker busy caring for his disabled wife, and gives Austin residents a tangible way to help the couple. By simply text messaging "Danny" to 20222, individuals can easily give a $10 donation to couple. The organization hopes to collect 1,200 $10 donations to get Danny and Maggie Silver off the streets and into new home.
