Ricky Gervais

NEW YORK — Ricky Gervais (jur-VAYS') will be back again to host the Golden Globe Awards.

NBC and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced Wednesday that the British actor-writer-comic will make his encore appearance on the Jan. 16, 2011, live broadcast.

Gervais is perhaps best known as the co-creator and star of the British version of "The Office," which later was successfully adapted as an NBC comedy. He also co-created and starred in "Extras," a comedy series that aired on HBO. His current feature film is "Cemetery Junction."

Before Gervais, the Hollywood awards show had gone more than a decade without a host.

I'm looking forward to Ricky hosting again. I believe most people to "get" his jokes. I agree with another poster that sometimes it takes a minute for his joke to sink in and his laugh is terribly infectious. He has a very dry sense of humor. Was it Ricky or Izzard that did the standup about Darth Vadar ordering lunch at the commissary on the death star and being told that he had to have a tray? Anybody?

I'm a devoted Golden Globes fan but I won't watch if Gervais is hosting. Can't stand the fool. He isn't funny, isn't attractive and has little to no talent.

Gervais is an as*hole, I really don't think he is funny and telling John Stewart to suck his d*ck is lame, apparently he felt threatened by Stewart and his tone indicated he apparently had something to prove, another, that joke is old, so old I'm embarrased for him telling it.
ie his recent appearance on the Daily Show

Love him! I never thought he'd be asked back after the last Globes because I don't think most people appreciate his brand of humor.

Yea!!!! Good news at last!! Ricky Gervais was the best part of The 2010 Golden Globes, he did not censor himself and he was the only entertaining person there.

Ricky is wonderfully funny, but he's fast. I know sometimes when he gets going I actually get the joke a few seconds after it has sunk in. He laughs not at his own jokes as some think, he laughs at himself and his experiences. The mark of a truly secure man.

But as to someone who said his fans laugh because he laughs, I have to admit there is some of that. Ricky has the MOST infectious laugh of anyone I have heard in my long life.

Ditto! I think Ricky is great.

The thing about Ricky Gervais is that he laughs at his own stuff louder and longer than anyone else.Which is one step up from having to explain his jokes. Watch him with Letterman sometime and Ricky just doesn't measure up.
Ricky's fans tend to laugh at anything he says just because he is laughing .Sad ,really.

spot on...would rather a comedian NOT laugh at his own jokes...makes them funnier

They should bring that tradition back.

Hmm? I expressed my opinion...WTF did you mean by your response, seriously? Did you think I was boasting about myself, major fail if that's the case.
FYI, I'm not a himself or a herself in reference to my comment, it was just a friggen comment.
Looks like you need a little activity on your page, good luck with that.
