Obama Thanks Duane Jackson, Times Square Vendor, For Foiling Bomb Plot

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama has telephoned Times Square vendor Duane Jackson to commend him for alerting authorities to the SUV used in the failed car bombing in New York City.

The 58-year-old handbag vendor from Buchanan, N.Y., said he saw the car Saturday and wondered who had left it behind. Jackson said he looked inside the vehicle and saw keys in the ignition, and alerted a passing mounted New York City police officer.

The White House said Obama thanked Jackson for his vigilance and for acting quickly to prevent a serious incident from occurring.

So the guys who bombed the WTC both times, the Federal Building in Oklahoma City, tried to light their shoe and underwear on fire and planted the Times Square bomb were not illegal aliens? Why are we hating so hard on illegal aliens?

I was wondering why Bloomberg only took the Police Officer to Dinner to say thank you. Why didn't he take the vendor as well?

The mayor did take Duane Jackson and the policeman both to dinner. However, the OTHER vendor, the first to report suspicious activity, did not want to go to dinner with Mayor Bloomberg.

Mr. Jackson is a hero. Make no mistake, however, this "plot" has not been foiled. True, there is a suspect in custody who has yet to be determined to be the perpetrator. As much as we would all love a quick ending to this potentially tragic event, it ain't over till it's over.
