While flipping through channels tonight we came across this Angel Soft toilet paper commercial that reminded us (very much) of those Bud Light ads that (while annoying) stick in our heads. Maybe they were doing this intentionally and we missed the h/t, or maybe they weren't aware, but whatever the reason these ad campaigns are exactly the same. If you agree or think we're totally wrong, vote below!

Aren't they both ripping off the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears?

Why can't I ever select yes or no, and who cares?

Why would Angel Soft want to market their product to youth like AB does?

Angel Soft commercial makes more sense.

Well, at least they didn't rip off an old Seventies song.

There are no more (in all fairness, VERY few) ad agencies that actually come up with original ideas any more. It would require too much work and something called an imagination.

I rarely watch commercials because most of them are so nauseatingly stupid. I will actually not buy a product if I hate their commercial!!

It isn't the agencies that are uncreative. The really creative work gets shot down all the time. Why? Because clients want what is safe and effective, and TV has years of studies showing what advertising is safe and effective.

Also, truly brilliant commercials are harder to create than you realize. People have some expectations that us creatives can just crank out fresh ideas like a factory. They actually take time (and money) that clients often don't want to spend.

Before you go accusing people of not being creative, try to understand the way the industry works more.

What happens is that Ad companies use the same motif for different ads. This way viewers, like you, will stop and pay attention to the similar ads that sell different products. It's been going on for many years.

Last time I checked, the too light, too tough and just right was first used by Godilocks and the three bears. SO WHO CARES?
07:01 AM on 05/05/2010
Oh no!!! They both ripped off Goldilocks!
05:57 AM on 05/05/2010
Well, let's see...both used the words "the" and "too" and "soft" ... kind of a slanderous charge based upon that, isn't it? Were I the agency being accused, I believe that I would not be laughing right now.

Man, people at the Huffpost have way too much free time. These commercials aren't that similar.

Whatever happened to a good old fashioned homage, Baby Jane?

In reality they both are ripping off the story of Goldilocks. This porridge is too hot, this porridge is too cold, this one is just right. This bed is too hard this bed is too soft, this bed is just right
