Met Costume Institute Gala 2010: Who Was Best-Dressed? (PHOTOS, POLL)

Huffington Post     First Posted: 07/04/10 06:12 AM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 05:20 PM ET

If the White House Correspondents Dinner is considered prom night for nerds, then the annual Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute's Gala is prom night for fashionistas. As the museum, in partnership with Vogue and The Gap, opens their exhibit "American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity," many fashionable women--American and not--walked the red carpet on Monday night. We caught the arrivals as they, well, arrived and we want to know who tops your best-dressed list.

They all win in my book,....as if Tinkerbell sprinkled pixie dust over these starletts / these important people and let them shine like they never shined this way before. They are so gorgeous. All of them. This is " Hollywood" Glamour returning, and I am so glad to see people loving the camera. Keep it up, never change, stay just the way you are.

The one shoulder dress needs to die.
Nobody looks good in that, it's too tacky/80's prom/trying to be innovative. YUCK YUCK YUCK.

I can't believe Zoe Saldana's Calvin Klien dress in #5. It's boring and I'm not a fan of one-shouldered dresses, esp. not when the one sleeve is a long sleeve. She looks gorgeous of course but the dress is disappointing at best. It looks like someone 30 yrs older should be wearing it, not someone as young and vibrant as she is.

- The top picks are nothing special
- Some of these outfits are truly hideous, and I don't see how that's fashionable
- I'm jealous of Emma Watson. We're practically the same age, and she's doing everything I want to. She's pretty, intelligent, classy, nice, and just a great person all around
- Who are some of these nobodies who were invited? Nicole Richie? Emma Roberts? Camilla Belle? What does she do anyway? Nothing just like Mischa Barton. She too just attended fashion events before she got involved with drugs
- I like Anne Hathaway, but she's becoming really annoying lately for some reason
- Brooke Shields is not pretty
- Zoe Saldana annoys me
- Carey Mulligan needs to have longer hair
- Kristin Davis looks beautiful as usual
- I'm surprised Lady Gaga wasn't there unless there aren't any pictures on here which is weird

97 photos? I don't have that much time!

I still say that it will be hard for people to top Ginger on "Gilligan's Island".

Is there really anyone here who is prepared to look through nearly 100 photos simply to answer the article question?

I've already viewed some of the highlights at the Daily Mail and prob have to say that Katy Perry, imo, knocked it out of the ballpark.

Loved seeing all the purple, the return of the cap sleeve, but I'm still amazed how few women know what to do with their legs when standing in a short dress. So many look like gawky five year old girls. I covered this gala back in the day for the NY Daily News and remember Cher in a beige see-through thing that looked very much like Lady Gaga's. except Cher's legs were so thin you could drive a truck between them. Also, there were fewer celebrity guests and more celebrity jewels.

Some of these young ladies are way too thin - they don't look healthy.

I also loved the dresses worn by Gwen Stefani, Melissa George, Emma Watson, Naomi, SJP, Sienna Miller, Oprah, Camilla Belle and Kerry Washington (along w/ J.Lo, Anne Hathaway and Blake Lively).

I like Eva Longoria's dress, but not worn by her. It only accentuates the fact that she's short. A taller woman should've worn it.
