Harry Reid: GOP 'Making Love To Wall Street'

First Posted: 07/05/10 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 05:25 PM ET

Reid

Harry Reid has always had a way of turning a phrase. On Wednesday afternoon, he turned his talents to a description of the GOP's relationship with Wall Street, as the two parties continue to debate the way forward on reform.

"The Republicans are having difficulty determining how they're going to continue making love to Wall Street," Reid, the Senate majority leader, said in a press briefing.

Spokesman Jim Manley seconded Reid's analysis. "What can I say -- it's true," said Manley. "Republicans are making love to Wall Street, while the people on Main Street are getting screwed."

Republicans have yet to agree to allow votes on amendments to Wall Street reform going forward.

Never mind that Reid has taken in more contributions from Wall Street than just about any other Congressman, Rep. or Dem. Never mind that he has had Wall Street lobbyists working in his office. Never mind that the top 4 recipients for 2010 of Finance/RE/Insurance money has gone to Democrats. It is not just Republicans. We are in this mess because both parties are whoring themselves to Wall Street.

Another brief article summed up in a last sentence about
the stark reality of our national financial dilemma:
"Republicans have yet to agree to allow votes
on amendments to Wall Street reform [to go] forward."
Outlandish!

Harry, I'm supporting you in your re-election bid but I think you have this one wrong. Love (beyond love of money) has nothing to do with it. Republicans are receiving payments for services rendered (cheaply).

That distortion of love, in some circles, is known as "prostitution."

Republicans aren't making love... they are helping Wall Street "get off" in exchange for payment for their time and dignity.

That "making love" phrase is mere politeness, rather than the vernacular Wall St has been using on the USA for decades. But when all is said and done we will still have to contend with outrageous credit card interest rates, and "gotcha" overdraft and lateness fees. Our US Congress will remain in the pocket of the banking industry that contributes the largest amounts in re election bribes.

If the GOP and Wall street are making love, how come we are getting screwed? That doesn't seem fair.

Why did you not notice you were getting screwed when Obama and Wall Street were making love?
04:04 PM on 05/06/2010
Do you have it on camera? It was Bush who was in bed with Wall Street and he deregulated them. Dick Cheney was in bed with oil companies as he let them write legislation.

Wall Street was making love to Obama.

Wall Street is investing heavily in Barack Obama.

Although the Democratic presidential hopeful has vowed to raise capital gains and corporate taxes, financial industry bigs have contributed almost twice as much to Obama as to GOP rival John McCain, a Daily News analysis of campaign records shows.

"Wall Street wants change and wants a curtailment in spending. It wants someone who focuses on the domestic economy," said Jim Cramer, the boisterous host of CNBC's "Mad Money."

The GOP has every STD in the book, when it comes to assessing their relationship with Wall Street.
09:30 AM on 05/06/2010
If that is the case, then the GOP got the STD's from Wall Street after Wall Street got the STD's from the Democrats!

I hope that the GOP is using protection. Making love to Wall Street could get you "burned". I wonder when they make love, do they dim the lights, throw on Barry White, and bring out the hot wax
